I had a dream they remade JP, but it followed the book more. it had Ed Regis,Mr Hammond the A hole,it was R rated for "intense bloody sci-fi violence, disturbing images and strong language.

I was going to go see it today, but they moved it out of the state-of-the-art theater for another movie. What movie deserved to be in the best theater in the complex? Scary Movie 5.

Ha ha! Sounds like the James Cameron idea for Jurassic Park to me.
Spielberg beat him to win the rights to JP, which in Cameron's own words would have been more Aliens than Jurassic Park!

This review of the IMAX 3D version talks about a FULL IMAX presentation or Taller IMAX version of JP in original IMAX theaters.
Has anybody else seen this, can you comment on it?

I saw this in IMAX 3D last night and wow. I was very impressed. I hadn't seen the movie since it first came out, 20 years ago and it was just as good if not better then what I remembered.

I'm not a big fan of 3D but it worked for the most part. The closeups and dark scenes were a bit weird and unfocused but some parts really shined. The audio was amazing

Great stuff

JP was always intended to just be a brief limited release. It was essentially a commercial for the BD3D release, which shows up in less than a week.

Yeah, I understand that, but Universal deliberately pushed back Oblivion to give JP3D a longer IMAX window. Originally, Oblivion was going to have a 1 week run in Imax before the wide release. (The US Imax was supposed to sync up with the international release.)

BTW, there is some justice in the world, Scary Movie 5 bombed (relatively...); at least 42 did well.

For those of us in the UK who have had to wait months for this, it's out 23rd August and tickets have gone on sale for IMAX screens (at least via Odeon). There was talk a month ago about us only getting an IMAX release for this so it remains to be seen if there'll be a regular version. But, as someone who wants to see - and hear - this film on an IMAX screen then this is great news. The BFI IMAX will be a 15/70 3D print

(It may seem odd to have tickets for a re-release like this goon sale a month in advance; luckily the moving up of Elysium to 21st August has meant Universal has swooped in to steal as many IMAX slots as it can before Elysium takes them that week. Lookslike JP daytimes and early evenings, Elysium in the evening)

JP3D is still showing at the dollar movies in my town!! I find it so hard to believe that it's been in theatres so long for us. I saw "Jurassic Park 3D: The IMAX Experience" 3 times (once with my closest friends, once with brother & his wife, and once with my parents) and once by myself at the dollar movies. I had watched this movie probably 100x when I was growing up. I was 6 y/o when it came out, and while I remember some scenes, 2013 was the first time I could appreciate watching my favorite movie in a movie theatre, with my family & friends, on release day, in IMAX 3D. It was such a DAMN GOOD experience. The best viewings I've ever had. Even my friends who really went to appease me, couldn't believe how great the 3D was (they're 3D haters), how LOUD the audio was, and how good it was to see it that way after 20 years. I don't think that cinematic experience can ever be topped! Just saying!

I completely agree I was ten when it came out and so got to see it a couple of times on the big screen when it was first released. I've seen it 10 times on the big screen in total and every time has been incredible. I can't wait to up that total when we finally get the 3D version - am also planning three different trips

I'm glad it lived up to your expectations. I can only imagine what it must have been like to see it in all its big screen glory after growing up with it on the small screen.

Default Disappointing.

Posted this on another JP thread but I thought it might be important for those thinking of seeing this...

Caught this today at an IMAX screening in London, was disappointed. I should mention it was a LIE-MAX screen, not a proper full IMAX, but given that the film was never shot for IMAX I wasn't too bothered. I should have been.

The top and bottom of the frame was cropped so that you couldn't even see the T-Rex's head while he roared at the end, nor could you see the brachiosaurus' head and feet when it chomps leaves and thuds to the ground early in the film, which is unforgivable.

The audio was also a problem - there was barely any bass. The earth should have shaken with each stomp of the T-Rex's foot, but it never did. The audio was cranked up so high the dialogue was oppressively loud throughout, and overly trebbly. It never sounded natural. My decent-but-not-high-end home cinema gives better sound than this, and it's supposed to be IMAX - the very best. Bullsh´t.

Any one else had a shoddy experience?
