That looks like an ultimate box set. It may be like "the essential disney movies" I didn't look carefully but are Snow White and Beauty and the Beast on there? I saw everything else that I expected on there

It can't be the "essential disney movies". There is no Snow White, no Beauty and the Beast, no Aladdin, no Mermaid, no Dumbo, no Sleeping Beauty and no Jungle Book.

For what I see in the cover the movies that will be included are:

Disney:
Fantasia
Alice in Wonderland
The Lion King
The Aristocats
Tangled
The Princess and the Frog
Bambi
Pinocchio
Lady and the Tramp
101 Dalmatians

Pixar:
Toy Story
A Bug's Life
Toy Story 2
Monsters, Inc.
The Incredibles
Cars
Ratatouille
Wall-E
Up
Toy Story 3

Is also missing Finding Nemo, Cars 2 and Brave from Pixar.

The box-set looks nice but since I already own all of them (and more) on BD I'll pass.

I'm not sure if it works for foreign countries, I haven't tried it but I've heard of people doing it, and you need to send payment in the form of Money Order or Check.

I'm about to check the Rescuers Down Under and might actually do another comparison between the old DVDs and the Blu-ray
Hello again,

I would still be very interested in your comparisons for these two movies!
Thanks in advance!

After my Best Buy fiasco last Tuesday, I ordered from Amazon (Aristocats, Rescuers/Down Under, Pocahontas) and I received them yesterday. The total was a little more than $58, so less than $20 a movie (used free shipping). I'm happy to say they came perfectly packaged, no damages whatsoever with perfect slips for all three. I'm def using Amazon more often, especially since it seems Disney could be done with the printable upgrade coupons.

I forgot to mention I watched The Rescuers last night, I thought it looked great, easily the best it's ever looked on home video. The Rescuers is my favorite out of the 70s DACs.

No need to. I've seen it, I just forgot to answer

Comparison might take a while since I'm kinda busy at the moment, but yeah, it's on my to-do list.

And who knows... these comparisons might turn into a new thread

Without Blu-ray, your HDTV is just a TV.

Disney doesn't do DCs anymore unless it is a 3D release or you get the gold Diamond editions.

I was just looking at the pictures for Cindy's steelbook, and I just noticed its for the gold version -_- They should still let me pre-order the 2 Disc right? I'm know the lion king steelbook was for any version, but I don't remember what version it was actually for.

This is where you want to go for the Disney deals as well. I believe you can add $1 for each additional slip as well if you want to make it worth your while. Or better yet you might want to join the club. Most Disney titles come with slip covers from the DMC.

They typically say "any version" on the back, no?

So I watched The Black Hole tonight in HD from Showtime on demand (free). I gotta say, it looked pretty amazing. It had a nice level of grain, and I never saw such detail in the film before. It completely slays the DVD releases over the years. I really hope this means it will be coming to blu-ray soon, hopefully with a nice set of extras. There were some film blemishes here and there, but overall it was pretty spectacular.

I can't say 100% but I believe they digitally removed the wires from some shots. I was watching for them and saw no signs of wirework, and it is easy to see in a few scenes on the DVDs. I was quite surprised at this, because I would not expect Disney to go through that kind of effort for this film. If they didn't, I'm shocked, because I really didn't see any wires at all. I think the visual effects and sets looked incredible even now, especially in HD. Keeping my fingers crossed on this one.
