My friends wants me to introduce her to the power of Blu-Ray with Disney,

What do you guys recommend? I have almost every Disney classic.

Beauty and the Beast, I say. A stunning example of a great blu-ray.
I buy Disney DVDs and Blu-Ray, message me if you're selling! :)

I'd definitely go with the classic ballroom scene, it was even more beautiful with the newfound crispness of the lines in my opinion. Also the
[Show spoiler]transformation scene at the end, where Beast becomes human again
. I thought I'd wrap that in spoilers tags for the VERY unlikely event that someone on here hasn't seen the film.

I'd say the opening scene, right to the end of the first song. Stunning.

Well... of course it depends a little on what kinds she really likes, but a couple of prime examples, I would say, are:

- Beauty and the Beast
- The Lion King
- Pocahontas
- Tarzan (wait for the re-release)
- The Princess and the Frog

And from the classical era:

- Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
- Bambi
- Fantasia
- Lady and the Tramp
- Sleeping Beauty

All of these are great movies with perfect Blu-ray transfers!

Agreed. Also, you can't really go wrong with ANYTHING Pixar. I also like to show the last segment of Fantasia 2000, the one with the spring sprite. Some incredible animation and colour pop.

You should probably show her some CGI too. Like some pixar titles. Monsters Inc, Cars, and Wall-e look show a lot of detail. But actually any of the pixar movies have great pq so it doesn't really matter.

I take it back....START with Sleeping Beauty. That movie has so much details and is just old enough to have the WOW factor but new enough to look much sharper, clearer and crisp than the likes of the golden 1st 5 (they have a softness to them that doesnt flatter as much as sharp clear images do)

I agree - I ended up buying an entire entertainment system b/c of Disney on Blu Ray (had a 26" TV, now have 55", oi). And Sleeping Beauty and Beauty and the Beast were the two that made me go "OMG I MUST HAVE THESE." They are eye-popping.

The older ones are very lovely, but nothing like those two (esp the opening scenes of Beauty and the Beast with the castle and the forest). The Pixar stuff is nice too if she likes those films, but if she doesn't know them, it won't blow her away like the Classics.

snap
I'm 3D converted because of how good TLK looked in Cinemas
That combined with seeing Beauty and the Beast on my mates 50 inch had me upgrading my 32inch HD-Ready to a 51inch Full-1080pHD (just in my bedroom ) at the start of the year
Saving up to move out an get my own place but its so tempting to invest it in a sweet 7.1 surround....then again, my rooms not big enough to fully benifit from surround so at least THAT keeps me on track.

thing is, even with just TV speakers I can hear the fullness in the audio tracks....cant wait to have a surround set up to fuly immurse myself in *sigh*
anyone fance busting me a few grand? lol

As I'm not fond of B&B's animation myself , I'd say just about ANY other classical-era Disney movie, although it may be too hard to get hands on a copy of Pinocchio at the moment.
Bambi and Alice may still be available, though.

(Let's get some therapy, and bring ourselves up to the modern era, people: Wake up and realize, B&B and Lion King were written by the SAME PERSON who wrote Tim Burton's Alice.
Can you honestly watch those movies again free from any influence of that disturbing taint? )

Just play the opening Circle of Life sequence. Then, you can watch the rest of the films on her new Blu-ray set-up.
