I have the 5-disc Blu-Ray set. I got mine 2 years ago for about $20, maybe a little more. Disc 1 was a copy of Disc 5 (or maybe the other way around), so of course I was scared shitless that I wasted all that (Ebay). Warner Bros. came through, though!
Was that common for that set?

Yep, I had to get mine swapped too I seem to remember (years ago!)
What does that mean, Rickles?

Why did the Theoretical Cut get a higher bit rate than the Final Cut? and how much room for improvement do you guys think their is if the Final Cut was re-encoded in AVC with a higher bit rate?

The bitrate isn't the determining factor, its because they did a poor job of encoding The Final Cut.

WB needs to get the master, aka David Mackenzie, to re-encode The Final Cut. I would actually donate money for this to happen!

What's important, specifically when dealing with 4K scans, is to preserve the grain structure, as a bad encode will produce artifacting, and a lot at that. It looks good as is, but could look sublime.
