What an incredible finale. It's obvious this was going to be the series finale in case of cancellation.

Totally. It was very evident. So is the show going to stay 3 years in the future next year I wonder?

That's a good question. I thought it was weird they included that -- which really had a series finale vibe to it as we would have never gotten to see her kids -- because otherwise it doesn't make sense to show that. They could have saved that final scene for next year as they could have chopped it off as they knew they were getting a final season for over a month now. I wouldn't mind either way though.

Yeah, that really felt like a series finale. They jam-packed basically everything in there.

I was caught off guard by that flash forward as well. I'm not sure what I think about it, though I think it'd be kinda weird if they backtracked on it.

I've missed a few episodes this season, so I'll have to go back and catch the ones I missed via Hulu. Overall, though I think it was great. I still have a special place in my heart for Community, but this is clearly a more consistently good show.

The link has an interview with P&R co-creator Mike Schur and next season will be taking place three years in the future, although there is a possibility of some flashbacks to show some of what happened, and if they can get Jon Hamm back they may show some of his incompetence.

Interesting. I'm all for the 3 years in the future. I think that's a pretty cool idea. There still is no official word yet on the episode order, correct? I'm hoping for a full season, but as long as the show gets a proper ending, I'm satisfied. I like the 3 year in the future with some flashbacks. It will be interesting to see how they handle the flashbacks and stuff. Jon Hamm is great friends with NBC and everyone there, so I'm sure he will do everything he can to be part of the show. Not to mention, Mad Men will be winding down as well.

That was a good read. I think a lot of the reasoning makes sense. It seems like they're working with the idea that season 7 will be the last, but if change in setting works well, I think it'd breathe enough new life into the show that they'd be able to still continue on for a few years. And I don't really see NBC doing well with their new comedies in the future, so...

Seeing how NBC doesn't really have much after Parks is gone, I don't see why this wouldn't get a full season next season.

Also watching that Parks finale was kind of sad because of how much it looked like a "series" finale.

I felt the same way. I read an interview with one of the shows writers or producers or whatever. They didn't want to rehash the same baby story lines like they did with Anne and figure Season 7 will be the last, so they wanted to jump ahead and kind of build again from the ground up and go out with a bang. And yes the show will remain 3 years in the future, not that they can't backtrack at all though. I really liked it and felt a little sad because it felt like a series finale, but apparently there will be one more season!

As already said, the season finale felt odd! I loved it though, but I really hope more from the original cast show up in season 7.

yeap, felt like they wanted to wrap things up for the fans since they thought they weren't getting renewed.

btw, have any of you watch the instructional video of nick making a canoe. it's awesome, just wish I could find the whole video online for free since I'm not making a canoe in my apt, but is not too hard to make if you have ever worked w/ wood. (BTW go to the laugh @ 3:23)

NBC confirmed today that the upcoming season of Parks & Recreation will be the final season. They also didn't schedule a time for it's return, so it will likely end up replacing a show that fails.

Ugh. This is so upsetting. **** NBC. Not the fact it is the final season, I'm fine with that, but the fact it will not premiere until God knows when. I hope all their new comedies fail (they probably will).

That's disappointing, doesn't even sound like it's getting a full final season.

Which is another horrible thing.

30 Rock premiered in October and ended in January with 13 episodes. that's probably (sadly) what will happen

Even though I'm hoping for a 22/24 episode finale season, it won't be strange to have less. The first few seasons episode numbers varied.
