Same in what way? The Social Network was released by Sony, it has no connection to Criterion.

Nope, Criterion did not produce the extras. As noted above, they were done by Fincher's regular special features producer, David Prior, before the release was ever made part of the Criterion line. It seems Criterion basically just allowed the use of their logo by Paramount for the packaging.

Yep, quite sure. Prior comments on it here:

Benjamin Button is unlike any other Criterion disc. It's routinely in sales of Paramount titles, it's in a blue case, it's basically a Paramount release for which they just licensed the use of the Criterion logo to bring more attention to it, as Prior says in the linked comments.

How I would love for Criterion to release a replacement case for this one, in the same style of their regular keepcases. It sticks out in the collection, but at least with the current slipcover it doesn't look too bad.

I swapped the blue case for a logo-free clear case I had. It helped a bit, but yeah.

I did a custom re-creation of the retail cover for CCoBB, sized for the Criterion clear keepcase. It's available by request. DETAILS HERE

I'm still not quite sure behind the reasoning behind why Criterion and Paramount don'r just do a new printing in a Clear Plastic Case.

Hell, I don't know why all blurays don't just start coming out in them...

But the Slipcase, when found in good condition, definitely helps matters.

Because Criterion is not distributing this title... Paramount is, and by extension whatever company Paramount chooses to distribute their products.
