A lot of people have mentioned the whole "No DVD" issue.. I just watched the trailer, and I do think that they will discontinue the DVD line next year.

on another note, it's nice to see the DVD finally going the way of the dodo. I think the timing is the same as it was with VHS and the Platinums

hopefully they won't change their minds and re-issue the DVD
I know it may sound silly but I miss the vault opening at the beginning.

I would say take out the summer diamonds and then that'll be realistic. I love your optimism, especially like seeing the CAPS films

I have a feeling that Tarzan and Mulan will make it to blu-ray in 2013. 2012 has been good for Disney Animated Classics so I'm sure they will want to keep it rolling.
I don't care for 3D at all. I am just fine with 2D blu-ray movies and my 2D 32" HDTV.

If you live in America, please buy American whenever possible to support our economy!

I believe they will tone it down. They might release more live-action movies, but if they release all their animated titles now, they will only have the Diamonds as new releases in the market.

Keep in mind that Disney had the majority of there dvd catelog out fairly early, a lot of them were barebones though. They'll probably just keep re-releasing them. Hunchback and Atlantis are both coming soon though!

Hopefully Robin Hood will be released as well - considering next year will be its 40th Anniversery.

I think that Robin Hood, along with The Sword in the Stone were recently announced for another region (the Middle East?) to come out next summer, so there is definitely hope. Other than releases for the US only (like Home on the Range, Winnie the Pooh) it seems like lately it takes so much longer for films to come out here than in other countries

If I had to guess which classics will come out by the end of next year (with some still possible for the rest of this year, I suppose), I would guess:

Peter Pan (announced)
Mulan (somewhat confirmed due to book releases)
Hunchback (somewhat confirmed)
Atlantis (basically announced)
Brother Bear (basically announced)
Hercules
Little Mermaid (announced)
Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (announced)
Robin Hood
Sword in the Stone
Tarzan
101 Dalmatians if it has been dropped from Diamond in the US
Aladdin, also if it is no longer a Diamond or planned for 3D

As LNDS mentioned, this really begins to deplete the canon, but if the last 2 mentioned above are dropped from Diamond, 2014 could reasonably see the last of the films released on blu anyway; at least for an initial release. Of course this is all speculation and conjecture, as we have no idea what Disney is planning to do w/ the Diamond line.

WAY too much--
There ain't no such animal as a "June Diamond" ()--since there's no June Video Season--and even if there were (which there isn't), Little Mermaid 3D has already been slated for fall '13 theaters, presumably ahead of the disk.
And that's leaving aside the other pipe dreams about Tarzan, Mulan and Hunch getting "Diamonds", when the 1+2 regular versions are pretty much When Not If at this point.

But we can expect Sleeping and Pinocchio to get one more round "for everybody who missed it".

France Changed there cover for Return to Neverland, they're getting the same cover art as our 3 disc, so most likely we'll get the same.

They'll just start re-releasing the titles that aren't diamond.

I bet we'll see 7-10 a year for the next three years. 2013-2015, then they will start re-releasing them. I'd imagine then is when we will start seeing films like Pocahontas and The Fox and the Hound receiving their own releases.
Have 1 empty, like new Big Hero 6 steelbook for sale, PM me if you're interested.

Saw the trailer for Secret of the Wings on Cindy. Then I saw the trailer for Peter Pan, which made me wonder how kids raised only with the DTV version of Tinker Bell are going to react when they see Tinker Bell act like a vain, jealous villain in the 1953 film.

"Mommy? What's wrong with Tinker Bell? Why did Tink try to kill Wendy?"
"Peter Pan was made for general audiences, honey, Secret of the Wings was made for little girls."
"Oh."

I seriously doubt it:
The Tink movies--oh, that's right you HAVEN'T SEEN THEM, have you? --pretty well beat her running callback-shticks into the ground, to "cement" her connection to the original without actually referencing any specific events from the original. (Which, by Lasseter law, they can't.)
The scene in PP where her glow turns this-means-war red after Wendy shuts her in the drawer pretty much becomes a main central character trademark starting with Tink/Treasure, and Rescue establishes the origin for her "pantomime" conversations.

...You can miss a lot, y'know.
