Both scans list the video as 2000kbps and the chapter bitrate break downs are identical so the video hasn't been touched the size difference is purely down to the lossless audio track.

The video encodes are 100% identical on the EB and Lionsgate BDs, bit for bit. People were chumps expecting Lionsgate to spend money on new transfers or anything for previously-issued BDs by Echo Bridge. Miramax has made a mockery of their catalog on Blu-ray.

Two years late, but what is going on here?!

I have the bad disc cause I wasn't reading this forum back then and I was using TV speakers when I watched it so I didn't notice I don't know if I really care enough to pay 8 dollars for additional audio channels.

I see the same information for both blu's (audio 5.1 Japanese and 1.0 English) , What was wrong with the disc ?

The original Echo Bridge release was reportedly missing the subwoofer channel and one of the surrounds.

So there is no problem with the English audio 2.0 dub ? By the way it says 1.0 on the back of the case .

The subwoover and left rear speaker channels are not present on the Japanese version. Just get the LGF version.

Why would you want to watch it in English?

I have the original and didn't even notice the missing channels, and I do have a 5.1 set-up. I swore I heard bass, but might be tripping on that.

I'm in total agreement with you. This is my favorite Godzilla movie and I grew up watching the English dub. I watched the Japanese dub when this came out on Blu-ray and it just didn't sit right with me. Every viewing since has been the English dub. It's what I grew up with and what I'm used to. This movie has one of the better English dubs too, by far.

I watch all the other movies in the Japanese dub. I think I can get away with watching just one in my own language.

But the Japanese version is the people's actual voices. You are saying it didn't sit right with you, but those are how the actors sound. It's not like anime where the voices are recorded over animation and the characters can sound however anyone wants them to, these are actual people. How would you like it if someone said your voice didn't sound right to them and they recorded you and had Antonio Banderas speak your words?

If you prefer the dub, fine, but to say the people's own voices don't sound is all kinds of messed up.

Personally, I can't stand watching live action dubbed because the audio looks like it is out of synch with the video.

I prefer to watch the original, actual version of any film. Too bad you seem to be missing out on many of the greatest films ever made, because they are foreign.

Godzilla vs Biollante is the ONE Godzilla movie, with the exception of maybe Godzilla 2000, that actually plays better with the dub.

The first twenty minutes of the movie in Japanese is utter gibberish, as actors who can't speak English are fumbling their dialogue. It's atrocious, and subtitled for Japanese viewers.
