I had always hoped for some EAGLES but I guess that will never happen now! I did buy the AC/DC pack from Walmart yesterday for $5.

However, they were selling the Rock Band Fender Mustang Pro-Guitar for $10 cheaper than the "clicky strum bar" normal guitar. So, I caved and got 2 of those. It will be interesting to see how I feel while strumming actual strings during gameplay after all of these years of using the click strum bar.

I also decided to order the MIDI box to try and hook up my fiancee's electric piano. It was only $20, so I figured it was worth a shot to try for future possibilities.
The midi box should make it so you can use any electronic drum set for rock band 3 pro drums.

I would advise anyone into rock band to learn about home modding. I've fixed a loose whammy bar and a broken strummer so far.

If it was just a broken strum bar on my last guitar, I would have tried to figure it out. However, it was actually a situation where, once powered on (even with fresh batteries), the controller indicator lights were dim and wouldn't connect with the USB dongle (even after using the reset button on the dongle).

I know the MIDI box will work with any electronic drum kit too. But, those electronic drum kits are a bit too expensive for my tastes. I'm not looking to spend that kind of money all at once. Also, the MIDI unit doesn't handle more than one instrument at a time. So, it will always have to be either keyboard or drums and never both.

RB3 Keyboard controllers are still widely available from MadCatz, and they're surprisingly excellent and aren't that expensive.

We've now heard the last of Rock Band DLC announcements until further notice. Past few weeks we had:

Weird Science /Oingo Boingo
Rosanna /Toto
Send the Pain Below /Chevelle
The Red /Chevelle
Face to the Floor /Chevelle

RBN songs:

The Brave / Agony Applause (RB3 version) /Deadlock
Never Trust the Hazel Eyed /Hopes Die Last
Pearls; The Frailty of Matter /The Burial
Endless Sky /I See Stars
This is Not a Song, It's a Sandwich! /Psychostick
The Final Battle /Freen in Green
More /Down June
Discord (EuroChaos Mix) /Eurobeat Brony ft. Odyssey
Rise Above /Van Friscia
King of Those Who Know /Cynic

The Last DLC song from Harmonix:

American Pie /Don McLean

And your last dose of RBN:

Deception - Concealing Fate Part Two (2x Bass Pedal) /TesseracT
Last Breath (2x Bass Pedal) /Attack Attack!
All Signs Point to Lauderdale (2x Bass Pedal) /A Day to Remember
Internal Cannon (2x Bass Pedal) /August Burns Red
2nd Sucks (2x Bass Pedal) /A Day to Remember
Impossible Landscape /Children of Nova
The Living End /Ava Inferi
Great Balls of Fire /Jerry Lee Lewis
Parasitic Twins /The Dillinger Escape Plan
Ordinary Objects /Dance for the Dying

It's been real. I'm still hoping that in 4-5 years, Harmonix brings the game back with a new release that can use all your old DLC, but I'm not betting hard on it.

So. I got 2 of the Mustang Pro-Guitar controllers delivered to me (after some major incompetence on behalf of Mad Catz, UPS, Purolator, or all of the above).

THEY SUCK FOR NON-PRO GAMEPLAY!!!

The overstrumming on those string sensors is ridiculous. After spending 3 days trying to figure out if I could ever find a way to use them as legacy controllers (standard 5 button gameplay), I discovered that it is just way too sensitive by design. When strumming as lightly as possible for it to register the strum on a single string, the controller actually registers a 2 or 3 string strum. So, no multiplier EVER gets started. It's always registering at least 1 missed note immediately after I hit a note perfectly.

I did manage to improve it though. I found a MOD online that is very simple and costs nearly nothing. Using some folded up paper towel inside the units where the strings attach to absorb a lot of vibration makes the controllers 99% more accurate. Not entirely sure if I'm satisfied with this solution yet. But, at least I have 3 guitar controllers now. That should help prolong my gameplay for a while.

Now, if only I could manage the same kind of price friendly transaction for some brand new Drum controllers.

Funny to use Don Mclean's American Pie as the last song for Rock Band, how poetic. "The day the music died."
When rain has hung the leaves with tears
I want you near
To kill my fears
To help me to leave all my blues behind.
For standing in your heart
Is where I wanna be
And I long to be,
Ah, but I may as well try and catch the wind.-Donovan
