Everyone's tastes vary. If you don't mind animated films, most of the Dreamworks and Pixar films ones are quite good in 3D. Life of Pi, The Hobbit & Hugo are supposed to be quite good in 3D as well, but I haven't watched them yet. I also enjoyed Prometheus.

Any suggestions other than Sanctum & Tintin which I'm planning on getting. Nothing like Avatar (can't stand it) or any silly action films. I want good films in 3D, anything like Sanctum, Titanic etc.
Thanks!

Life of Pi, wasn't going to get this, then i read other members opinions and bought it at the weekend. I thought the 3d quality was stunning, better than hugo which gets highly rated.

Second.

My 3D collection is embarrassing at times, but I was trying to build it. Now I have crap that looks terrible, and aren't even good films in the meantime.

Hugo is incredible from all angles.

You don't want good movies in 3D, you want movies you like in 3D. Buy them.

You consider Sanctum to be a genuinely good movie? It's got great 3D i agree, but the acting and story is not great.

Seeing as most of my collection is 'silly action films' i might struggle to recommend you something, but Despicable Me was very good.
"Still in all, every night we does the tell, so that we 'member who we was and where we came from... but most of all we 'members the man that finded us, him that came the salvage. And we lights the city, not just for him, but for all of them that are still out there. 'Cause we knows there come a night, when they sees the distant light, and they'll be comin' home."

Cane Toads was quite fun, I did find though that it was the only 3D film I've seen that if your not sitting back far enough the strain on your eyes is painful.

Agreed. I also love the scene where Rose slips off the edge of the boat and is hanging over the dark ocean. Awesome.

I just cant narrow down my view of what I think is the best (too many candidates) to one movie or doc. The ones that come to mind:

Avatar
Tron: Legacy
Drive Angry
Prometheus
Hugo
Journey To The Center Of The Earth
Ultimate Wave:Tahiti
Titanic
Life Of Pi
The Hobbit
Born To Be Wild
PLEASE take a look at my NEW home theater gallery pics!!

Default Which 3D Blu-rays are "worth it"?

so what i mean by that is which 3D movies make the most use of the format...

i am upgrading my living room with a Sony 3D TV and Sony 3D Blu-ray player. just bottom of the market models. nothing special...

the only one i currently have is The Wizard of Oz.

so which ones are truly "worth" it and are great for the 3D effects and all that comes with it?

Any Pixar movie (Monsters Inc, Nemo, etc), Beauty and The Beast, Lion King, Tangled for animated movies. I've also heard Wreck it Ralph has great 3d but haven't seen it personally.

Stay away from Turtles Tale, pure crap.
All 3D reviews should list the equipment it was viewed on.

I would agree with most of the titles mentioned, especially Hugo and if you like classic 3D horror I would add House of Wax and Creature From the Black Lagoon.

Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted
http://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=198523&page=9

ON A SCALE 0-5
Overall 3D Presentation Rating: 5
3D Separation: 5
3D In Yo' Face Factor: 5

"From beginning to finish, Madagascar 3 is all about effects that float before the viewer's face including feathers, fireworks, flying fish and bananas (to name just a few). Even when the props take a break, we still get treated to a giraffe's mouth, a hippo's nose or an elephant trunk poking itself forward. Never once does the viewer lose sense of the dimensionality.
The animators have created a wonderful sense of depth and then explore it from as many angles as possible. One of my favorite moments is watching Stefano the Seal hanging from on a cliffside after a cannonball stint that goes horribly wrong.
As the camera looks straight down the side of the cliff, you get a spectacular sense of the character's fear of being so high up.
However, the most memorable sequence in the film involves a high-speed chase across the streets of Monte Carlo, which translated in 3D in an array of angles, is so frantic and dizzying that you almost feel your heart pounding once its all over."
