Cool When will Golden Compass 2,3 come out?

Is this going to be like Lord of the Rings? Three years or more! This movie left me hanging! I think I'm going to have to read the books! Did I say read? LOL

they have no idea if they are even going to make the 2nd and 3rd movie at all, especially with how badly the 1st tanked in the U.S. theaters

I just saw the first last night on Blu-Ray. I think the pace of the movie was a little too quick compared to the book. Maybe they'll do an extended cut after the other films are released.

I don't see any announcements online in regards to the status of the 2nd or 3rd films.

Although The Golden Compass only grossed $70.1 million in the States, it made $300.8 million internationally. Now, New Line did hire Hossein Amini to write a screenplay for The Subtle Knife, but its being produced was dependent on the success of The Golden Compass. Also, as recently as March 13th, Producer Deborah Forte expressed optimism that the sequels would be made. If you're really starving for some follow-up though, but don't like reading, listen to the audiobooks narrated by author Phillip Pullman himself.

The Golden Compass had a global net profit, I doubt the studios care where the money comes from. And that DOESN'T include DVD/BD sales. It did fine.

I did like The Golden Compass, & I'm hoping that they do go ahead and make the rest of parts to. I would'nt like to own a part of a trilogy and then left with a cliffhanger..................
