Because Hill is full of crap. It was the general public that laughed at the movie and said it was more akin to a comic book than real life. Hill (much like Lucas buying into the hyperbole that SW is a modern day myth) ran with the idea and said that was his intention all along.

Please.

I don't mind the DC. It's still a fun movie for me.

I'd pray that Warner releases the theatrical cut, or at least a dual cut disk with seamless branching, but I fear it will be a direct re-release of the already released blu-ray.

Right now, Netflix has the Theatrical Cut. I'm not sure if it's HD, but I would love to get a home video release of this version. It plays so much better without those awkward comic book-y transitions. I think it's weird that they actually have this version of the movie, since it's not on Blu Ray nor has had a DVD release since the DC was released, but for a while they had The Keep (which hasn't seen a home video release since laserdisc, and apparently won't be released on Blu Ray/DVD any time in the near future).

I don't know. It's not impossible to imagine painted transitions. Frankly, if they'd put that kind of effort into the transitions, the DC might not be as hated.

Default Question about the original cut of The Warriors

Do you think they did a 4k scan of "The Warriors" in its original state, without the crappy unnecessary comic book panels? Just for preservation and a future Original Cut BD?

Hill just wasted his own masterpiece...

Possibly. He seems adamant about going the George Lucas route though because of the negative attention the film brought him.

I wouldn't call it a masterpiece though.

Well, according to amazon.com it's "In stock but may require an extra 1-2 days to process", it's 94 minutes instead of 93 (which is what they have the director's cut blu-ray listed as), the aspect ratio is 1.77:1 instead of 1.85:1 (which is what the have the previous release listed as) and has 2 discs. No cover art though. $13.47 amazon, $12.99 bestbuy.com (but that's backordered). I guess we'll just have to wait and see, hopefully someone will order it and let us know for sure.

I personally love the DC and think the transfer as way better than it's dvd counterpart.

The transfer is great, it's just the alterations that some people hate. They should have included both versions. Oh well, I still like what I've got.

I don't think there is a 2-discer, it's probably the Warner re-issue of the old BD. I saw some at BB last week, they had the WB stickers over the barcodes just like every other Paramount title Warner is now distributing. Of course later runs will have the WB logo printed on the back cover, but they all started this way with stickers over the old stock. Pretty sure it was $7.99 but I hate the DC.

I doubt they have a 4K scan of it, but since the new transitions are obviously, blatantly digital, I don't know why the original negative would've been affected at all by this home video cut.

Has there ever been an instance in this Bluray era where the Director's Cut gets followed up w/ an untouched Theatrical Cut?

It seems to me that these tampered with Directors Cuts are the Final versions.

Lucas w/ THX1138, The Exorcist, Hill's The Warriors.

Has a director/studio delivered the Original after fans complain about their "upgrades"?

heres' one, which version of "In The City" is better, Joe Walsh's solo version from the film or The Eagles version from The Long Run LP?

I prefer the the solo version from the film, but the Eagles version is good too!

Hasn't happened yet, but with so much outcry from fans I think it will start and maybe be the next big trend in Blu. Hopefully it will.
Of course Lucas and Cameron probably won't go back, but if they see others making huge profits from turning back the clocks on their films, it could happen. Like some rapper once said, "cash rules everything around me". Plus, isn't it more of a studio decision than anything else?

Oh yeah, Replacement Killers took the step back to theater version on the Mill Creek 2-pack with Truth or Consequences. Guess you could call that the first one. Probably happened with the Hollowman 2-pack too, but I haven't got confirmation on that, just an educated theory.

I dont think there are enough Blu fans to make that difference.
