I saw something about new Slipcovers for the movies. But that's it.

I've passed on every new slipcover, metal-pak and anything else related, so this will be easy. I might get the Rogue Cut of DOFP someday, that's the extent of my upgrading. Certainly not for new packaging. I know Fox wants me to plat this game, but I just can't.

Is the new Magneto cover a slip or steelbook? Hard to tell.

I just finished watching my Blu-ray of X-Men: First Class.

X-Men: First Class is my favorite of the X-Men films by a considerable margin, because I love the 1960s James Bond 007 vibe of the film, a vibe that is even made evident during the closing credits, which mimic the designs of Bond credit sequences. I love how this origin story plays out, and I love the intense, but saddening finale.

Jennifer Lawrence lends a real seductiveness to the character of Mystique, while James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender are both incredible in their respective roles as the young Professor X and Magneto. Rose Byrne and January Jones both provide some incredible eye candy. Kevin Bacon, whom I've enjoyed seeing in movies from my 1980s childhood onward, is awesomely evil as Sebastian Shaw.

One of my favorite aspects of these X-Men movies is the way that Professor X and Magneto continue to battle each other while also having a tremendous mutual respect for each other. This origin film does a great job of explaining the back story behind their association.

The special effects in this movie are outstanding. The submarine scene during the finale is still great. I also love the scene where the young mutants are partying and destroying stuff at the CIA building.

I always liked this movie a lot, it's so funky and fresh and feels so different to the previous X films. I dunno about it being my favourite of the bunch, as I think the Rogue Cut of DOFP lays claims to that honour, but it's not far behind. And hell, J-Law isn't phoning it in like she is in the other two movies.

Puh-lease.

I guess you all rather have had Amber Heard instead. She was going to have the role originally.

Why does J-Law keep on playing characters who are at least 10 or 15 years older than she is? In Silver Linings Playbook, she was a 21-year-old playing a 39-year-old.

So I guess you're forgetting The Hunger Games. And Mystique is pretty much ageless.

There was also Joy, when the actress was 25, playing a divorced mother of three.

That Nine Inch Nails song, "And All That Could Have Been", is now going through my head for some odd reason.

Eh, I honestly don't care who plays Mystique. Though if Apocalypse would have ended differently...

Actually in the movie it was 2. And you're telling me a woman can't be divorced with 2 kids at 25?

First Class ain't my favorite X-Men movie (that would be DoFP or X2) but it's definitely the most stylish and fun in a lot of ways. Apocalypse tried to be more silly and fun but kinda failed IMO, but this movie got that right.

Just saw First Class for the first time. Great film, crap Blu-ray. I thought my new Sony UHD player had a problem last night while playing this... kept getting a second or two of extreme blocking on the screen while it played. Was ready to try seeing if I could use my service plan on the machine to exchange it or something, but did some research online and saw that a whole bunch of people have problems with this disc. PS3 owners had issues where the disc wouldn't load or would freeze often, and apparently turning off their internet connection worked wonders. Others experienced freezing, others experienced the blocking that I saw... just not one of the greatest titles for compatibility, I suppose. That's truly disappointing.
2016 disc favs: The Revenant 4K, The Peanuts Movie 4K, Pan's Labyrinth (Criterion), In A Lonely Place (Criterion), Kubo and the Two Strings, Hellraiser Scarlet Box (US), The BFG, The Thing (Scream Factory), The Jungle Book (live), Deadpool 4K, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, The Hateful Eight, Carol
