Default Choke Blu Ray

As some of you know, Choke is currently a DVD only release. It was one of my favorite films last year and I was rather disappointed that there weren't a Blu Ray release. Are anyone else hoping for a Blu release? Or would it never see the light of day? I might just go buy the movie on DVD.

I bought it on DVD. It didn't make much at the box office, so I didn't have real high hopes for a Blu-ray release. As a huge Chuck Palahniuk fan, I would happily double dip if released on Blu-ray.

Never heard of it.... what is the Premise of the movie?

Sometimes we hear of people who are “very” honest, “mostly” honest, or even “a little” honest.
Should we even use modifiers with the word honest? I don’t believe so. There are no degrees of honesty. Either we are honest or we aren't.

From the author of Fight Club, so you can imagine...

Victor Mancini is a medical-school dropout who has devised an ingenious scam to pay elder care for his Alzheimer's-afflicted mother: he pretends to choke on pieces of food while dining in upscale restaurants. He then allows himself to be "saved" by fellow patrons who, feeling responsible for Victor's life, go on to send checks to support him. When he's not pulling this stunt, Victor cruises sexual addiction recovery workshops for action, visits his addled mom, and spends his days working at a colonial theme park. Written by Anonymous

Sex addict and colonial theme park worker, Victor Mancini, has devised a complicated scam to pay for his mom's hospital bills while she suffers from an Alzheimer's disease that hides the truth about his childhood. He pretends to choke on food in a restaurant and the person who "saves" him will feel responsible for Victor for the rest of their lives. Written by Anonymous

Victor Mancini, a sex-addicted med-school dropout, who keeps his increasingly deranged mother, Ida, in an expensive private medical hospital by working days as a historical re-enactor at a Colonial Williamsburg theme park. At night, Victor runs a scam by deliberately choking in upscale restaurants to form parasitic relationships with the wealthy patrons who "save" him. When, in a rare lucid movement, Ida reveals that she has withheld the shocking truth of his father's identity, Victor enlists the aid of his best friend, Denny and his mother's beautiful attending physician, Dr. Paige Marshall, to solve the mystery before the truth of his possibly divine parentage is lost forever.

I've been waiting on a blu release for this as well. I am dissappointed every time they choose not to release a movie on bluray.

With the success of the Avengers and Iron Man 2, I'm surprised they haven't released this on blu already.

Not sure I see the tie in between those films and Choke.

Sam Rockwell? Maybe?

Regardless, the film has been released on Blu-Ray in Germany.

Choke (German)

It is most likely Region B locked though.

Hopefully we'll see a North American release sometime soon.
Current Blu-Ray Recommendation:

Sam Rockwell, yes, but mostly Clark Gregg.

I did see it was released in Germany, but the Region B lock is a major drawback. I use AnyDVD HD (legally, mind you) for taking screenshots and such, but I've no clue if I'd be able to watch Region B blu on a Region A drive with it.

Just re-watched this last night. Although the flash back bits are a bit cheesey, I found it highly enjoyable a second time around, as I was not as huge of a Rockwell fan as I am now. Soon as it was over I rushed to the site hoping it was released under the radar, but no I was wrong.

Sam Rockwell fans of the world unite, we want "Choke" on blu-ray. Chuck did a commentary for "Fight Club" I believe, I'd love to hear him and Rockwell going over the film.

Well, I don't know what software you use to watch the movies (to may knowledge AnyDVD HD doesn't play them), but if you use PowerDVD or TotalMedia Theatre, this should work: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=149191 (if there are legal issues, I apologize i advance, but I don't see that being the case).

As a fan of Palahniuk's novel, I dislike the movie, but Sam Rockwell is great in it and I'm a huge Gillian Jacobs fan, so I own the DVD. I'd consider buying a Blu-Ray, but it would have to be pretty cheap. I doubt it'll ever be released unless it's thrown in a combo pack with Fight Club one of these days.
