What a strange listing! You still can't pre-order it, and I would have missed that date in small print at the left, if you hadn't mentioned it.

So the deal was extended through 2016? They probably won't release anything at all.

I was curious about the fate of the Warner deal, so I searched for this topic and read the last few pages.

What I get from it and from other stuff I've read is that Paramount has prolonged their deal with Warner for one year, as if they were just picking an option in their contract, without any will to have an actual reissue campaign, and long-term plans for physical releases.
It's as if they were currently betting everything they have (apart from the big franchises) on streaming and services, up to the point they give themselves a year to see how it turns out, before making any long-term deal with any partner.

International markets aren't apparently as mature (fragmentation plus importance of physical), hence the deal with Universal. I had supposed that Universal would take over from Warner in 2016 in the US too, but the prolongation of the Warner deal for a year without any actual announcement is a big clue that they're basically delaying any longterm decision before they got early returns from their streaming endeavors.

No there was a real reason why it is now at the end of this year, but I was told not to state why. It wasnt an option to add a year at the end of 2015, it was already going to be at the end of 2016 due to a happening on Paramounts part.

Some clarity as to what's going on would sure be nice. Par was absent from CES in terms of any UHD BD announcements. I'd sure love to see some Dreamworks titles this year. Saw 13 Hours Monday night. Wicked awesome Bayhem and remarkable cinematog. Would love to see that hit UHD BD this summer.

I'd be happy just getting Prophecy, Silver Bullet, and The Ghost and the Darkness but there's so many great movies just collecting dust somewhere it's a crime.

My understanding is that the agreement between WB and Paramount is now over with. There will be no new releases coming out this year and whatever is available now is it for the time being, so if you are thinking about a title you should get it now before it becomes unavailable. I think pretty soon you may see many Paramount titles go OOP. It is also my understanding that soon Universal will take over releasing Paramount titles in the states as they do overseas. American Gigolo looks like the last new catalog released from this deal with WB.
The Criterion Collection (or simply Criterion) is an American video-distribution company which specializes in licensing "important classic and contemporary films" and selling them to film aficionados.

Good to know, I guess. Is there a way to find out what Paramount titles are currently available on blu ray in the U.S.?

I don't think that list is much use, I didn't see WITNESS, VIRTUOSITY, or THE TALENTED MR. RIPLEY on it. Those are the first three Paramount BDs issued through WB that I could think of that I own. And it sounds like those are the ones that may go OOP.

All of the Paramount titles issued by WB are listed under WB.

Just like Warner before them, Universal can only release what Paramount provides.
