WB did release an overview plan for 2013 where they slotted The Right Stuff for Q4 2013. So, by next Christmas, we'll have rockets in our stockings.

As it should be. I think the original disc wasn't anamoprhic so depending on the player/tv settings the disc would appear to be 2.35:1, the image would be stretched to fill the screen and contain black bars at the top and bottom. I owned the flipper disc years ago before going Hi-Def so I can't be certain, but that's all I can think of that would make the image appear that way.

Darn, another year to go.
All right, look if you absolutely have to tell her the truth, at least wait until the timing's right. And that's what deathbeds are for.

Default Update from The Digital Bits

From digitalbits.com:

"Now then… we’re still waiting to hear back on Dark Knight Trilogy details and certain other titles, but we’ve officially confirmed with Warner Home Video that Philip Kaufman’s The Right Stuff will be released on Blu-ray Disc before the end of the year."

OK, that's good to hear. No release date yet....but this year is its 30th anniversary.

WHV has just announced The Bishop's Wife for November 5th. So they are already into November for release announcements.

So, I'm still waiting to hear an announcement for the official release date for the James Dean Collection on blu ray....and I'm still hoping to hear about Terms of Endearment and Serpico on blu since it's the 30th anniversary for Terms and 40th anniversary for Serpico.

Am I to believe that the blu rays for The Right Stuff, James Dean Collection, Terms of Endearment and Serpico would ALL be announced for November/December release? Really? I guess it's possible but I doubt it.

Looks like I'll need to buy the Japanese blu ray of Terms of Endearment at amazon.co.jp....along with Tootsie and The China Syndrome.
