Not to butt in, but I was thinking about getting the Besta display cases, but they don't seem to have the Vassbo doors online. I wonder if they stopped making them. The nearest Ikea is a couple of hundred miles, so I was hoping to get them online. I saw the single panels online, but would rather have the large doors. Which doors did you get? Is it a combo of 3 & 2 pannels? It's hard to see it in the pics. Thanks for any info.

I got the 3-panel(75.5" high x 23.5" wide). My only fear is the shelves won't line up with the wood breaks in the glass and look a little off. That's why I really like the all clear Tombo doors. I'll never understand why Ikea discontinued them.

The Vassbo doors are new and have replaced the Tombo doors from last year. Basically the same thing, except the Vassbo has wood trim, and wood breaks(1 or 2 depending on door height). As I mentioned above I really like the Tombo doors which were all clear. The only Tombo doors available at my store were the "cube shaped", so you would need 3 of them to complete a standard 75.5" tall Besta, as opposed to 1(or 2 of you split them down the middle) Tombo glass door.

Hey Torgon, I use the 3 panel Vassbo doors like Rick. The only reason you can find the single panel online is because the 2 and 3 panels have now been discontinued. Well, as far as I know anyway. Last I was at Ikea, they still had plenty of the 2 and 3 panel Vassbo doors even though the Website said there were zero and weren't getting anymore. It's possible that the store nearest you may have them still, but I'd be prepared with a backup door just in case.

Ahh, I see. Yeah, if you're going for the "cube" look, they line up fine, but if you need to adjust the shelves to fit bigger/ taller pieces, then that can be an issue. At least with the Vassbo doors you have a little more play, because of the thick wood break, than with the square Tombo doors. TBH, I think Ikea discontinued the full cabinet doors to force everyone to buy the single doors which would make them more $$$. I dunno, the Billy's still have full glass cabinet doors.

Yeah I was looking real hard at the Billy doors, only problem, they wouldn't fit a Besta, as one would be to short(width-wise), and two would be too long.
If these Vassbo doors work well, I'll be going back for more. I only bought 2 of them. At least now I know, if you see something you like at Ikea, BUY 'EM ALL! They might be discountinued when you go back!

Just curious if anyone is familiar with using 2-part epoxy? I started the tedious process of gluing all my statue, and I'm very pleased so far. I used regular superglue(gel form) for the small pieces and the 2-part epoxy of the larger breaks. I got most of them done, but the damn epoxy solidified in the dispense needle before I was finished. I had read this stuff set rather quickly, but didn't know it was THAT fast. I had to trash hald the tube as it was unusable. I'm not overly concerned, as it was only $4, but I was wondering if anyone knew what I was doing wrong? Or are these tubes only a 1 use deal? The brief directions on the back of the package didn't go into much detail. Just don't breathe it in, which I did...and don't get in your eyes, which I did not.

Well I got one of the double Bestas installed. What an adventure that was! You definitely need a lot of space when building these things, especially if you're flying solo...like I was last night.

Yeah, I did that with the square Tombo doors. Bought as many as I needed out of fear they would be discontinued. Eventually ended up going with the Vassbo doors though, and now I have 20 square Tombos sitting in my garage collecting dust, LOL! Oh well.

I wore a mask. God know I don't need to lose any more brain cells. I've only had a small experience with the product though. The only time I've used it was to repair one of the fins on the head of my General Grievous PF, so I didn't have a need for the epoxy afterwards and just trashed it. It doesn dry fast though, but works so well. IIRC, the epoxy I bought came in a double barrel syringe, and you just push both plungers down, and both components mix on the surface you put it on, not inside the tube itself. Once they mix, that's when you have to be quick. Got it at Michaels IIRC.

Congrats on getting your Besta together. Yeah, those big ones need alot of room.

So, finally got the new lights installed with the old ones, and the new light controller that Barlighting was kind enough to send me to try out. The good: reacts better to music, 3 options for reactiing to music that I discovered so far, and alot brighter with music response than the last controller made it. The still good, but minor issue: the light controller is IR rather than RF like the previous one, so making sure I have good placement of the controller is more crucial. Think I got it now though, and I will, hopefully, be posting up a pic and vid soon.

I wonder if there will be any episodes or mention of Starkiller in these.

Yeah man I was happy to hear that. We need something new. This sounds pretty cool. If they do great stories like they did with Clone Wars it'll kick ass.

Awesome day today! I received my 4 Koto New52 statues in...talk about kick ass packaging! You can display these in the package for added effect(and in my case, added damage prevention!!!)
Then finally got both my Dual-Bestas set up and started loaded the one with the Vassbo doors, just to see how it looks with the shelves. It worked out quite nicely with Diablo Barbarian on the bottom, WoW Arthas in the middle, then WoW Blood Elf vs. Draenei Paladin AND Conan w/prize(hot ass chick...literally).
Sorry for the cell phone pics, once I get all the Dioders in place, I'll take some nice pics for my profile page!

With Filoni involved, you know it will. I still have hopes that they will finish some of the un-finished stories from TCW.

Oh hell yes! That's going to look badass! Love the Arthas statue. Definitely throw up a thread when you get it finished to showcase it. Which of the new 52 did you get?

I will do that, once everything is set up.
I got the first 4: Superman, Aquaman, Flash, and Green Lantern. Batman, Wonder Woman, and Cyborg are all due over the next few months.
They are only 7" tall, but for a little less than $40, they look great. With the Sideshow Poison Ivy PF due in a couple weeks, this is a great jump start to my DC collection.
My next Koto purchase is the classic Luke vs. Vader "concept art" diorama. I've been wanting that badboy for a few years now.
