Why would they change it? Makes no sense. You'd think Fox would just repackage the same disc.

I bought mine when it first came out, so I have the "old pressing." When I get home, I'll check to see if my copy has the issue.

Just tested my copy and the scream is missing on mine as well on the DTS-HD track, but is fine on the Dolby 2.0.

Does anyone know if there are any differences between the 2 versions of the first movie's Family Fun Edition and the other edition?

All releases of Home Alone and Home Alone 2 on Blu-Ray in the US/Canada are identical to each other.

Same transfer, same extras.

Bought it last night, price matched Amazon.
Home Alone is not the Family Fun Edition Artwork.

Was that a difference you were looking for because there's a photo embedded in this thread just a few posts up and scans in the database to that effect. It's the same content.

The first unboxed photo in this thread shows that the Art for #1 is the Family Fun Edition.
Since I didn't realize someone else posted a recent picture, I was just letting people know that the set now comes with revised Art for the first one.

When Corey said that there is no Content Difference between the two, I decided to buy it.

I watched the first movie the other night and it actually has a pretty decent transfer for being a bit older - at least it's AVC encoded. For the most part, it looks pretty "analog".

They both look decent for no special treatment.

It's a good example of how to handle an older transfer presumably from an IP. No need to muck it up with extra processing and contrast boosting.

Ok, I just realised that the US release of Home Alone 2 is on a 25GB disc, while European/Japanese editions are in a 50GB disc and the bitrate is much higher!

Does anyone have any screenshot comparisons?

Don't bother. I had the Hong Kong release and the higher bitrate is meaningless, as the source is the same old master.

yes, I understand it's the same master, but maybe the one in the 50GB disc has more room to breathe and the encoding is better.

If you have the release, do you have the possibility to grab at least one screenshot that matches those of the review here?

Sorry, but I gave it away ages ago. Nostalgia did not match reality.
