Thanks again, hope this works.
Amazon.com seems to be way off in their estimated cross-border delivery dates. they usually come well before then, sometimes by weeks.
i just made my last order on the 7th, amazon estimates delivery to be the 25th, i'm expecting it to arrive by the 18th.

Yeah, I was told to expect the package by the 26th. But it came today.

The amount of time it takes to go through any customs is beyond the shipper's control. They save themselves time in handling queries by getting their customers prepared for the worst.

I have once tracked a parcel that actually sit at the customs for close to 10 days.

Just wondering, for those that has paid tax for US shipments, are there additional 'handling / brokerage' fees on top of the applicable GST/PST? Please share your experiences.

Love the positive feedback here, on shipping estimated times.....

It begs the question, on two counts. they must be sending the orders to Amazon.ca and they are shipped out from there, which begs the question, why would any Canadian buy from Amazon.ca when the dollar is the way it has been the last couple months, and the discrepancy in price's between the two sites is ridiculous. Some movies are $10-$15 dollars cheaper, even after shipping charges, Plus the big kicker, NO SALES TAXES!!!! GST PST, see you later. Its a NO BRAINER in my opinion.

thanks guys

There is exactly zero reason to buy Blu-ray movies from amazon.ca over amazon.com.

Unless on a rare occasion when it's actually cheaper! Troy was cheaper on Amazon.ca than it was on Amazon.com

In fact, there are some relatively new Blu-ray releases by Sony that are under $25 on Amazon.ca. But I prefer to buy from the US stores as they are often cheaper.

Wonder how you folks do not have to pay taxes, since UPS , to my knowledge, never pass up on taxes.

The cheapest shipment option does not use UPS. They use USPS instead.

For the last 5 months I've been ordering blu rays from amazon.com. Orders always arrive faster than they estimate and it is cheaper than amazon.ca, HMV or FS . Now, if only I could get my hands on some good deals on blu-ray players. (I still do not understand why they are ridiculously more expensive here )

It would be nice to post Canadian deals and not the fact that we can buy from amazon.com (I also buy from amazon.com but there are some sales here in Canada as well).

Like this week at Futureshop, 2 titles for 50$ over 40 titles to choose from

From what I've seen the following titles are included:
- Con Air
- Remember the Titans
- The Rock
- T3
- War
- Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone
- Unforgiven

Yes, according to the website, there are 40 to choose from, but when I click on the link for more information or for a list of titles, nothing happens. I have informed customer service about this as I would like to know the other 33 titles. They don't know.

I went to the store, and in addition to the list above, there is also Good Luck Chuck.

I am not suprised this link is put here by someone who does not need it. I read the whole thread, and it is useless.

You can buy (selected) Blu-ray players through American site ecost.com. They have CDN pricing and include the CDN taxes and duty in the cost. The shipping is standard ground service, 5 - 13 days.

But only some players offer significant savings.

Here is an examples of cost savings, the downside is warranty is not valid in Canada because bought in US.

Panasonic BD30-K
e-cost $453 CDN, with taxes, shipping, duty and conversion - $560.38
Future Shop $599.99, with taxes - $683.99

Savings - $123.61

BTW the player was out of stock.

Sharp BD-HP20U
I tried to do the Sharp but e-cost said it was not cleared for international shipping.

The other players e-cost listed were older Samsung, Sony and Panasonic models and a Phillips player.

Yeah I know I bought War and Good Luck Chuck (Good luck chuck was labelled 2x50$ but War wasn't but it worked at the register....)

By the way, good luck with getting an answer from them, they had a 2 for 40$ deal at the end of september (26 sept-2oct), and I had the answer October, 20th!!! Talk about service! They didn't even mention if I could still benefit the offer even if they answered me after it was expired!

Blu Ray deals in Canada? There are none! I wouldn't call 2 for $50.00 plus tax a deal. Walmart, Future Shops, Best Buy are all raising prices of their Blu Ray and HD DVD titles. Typical Canadian Gouge and Fu*ck over, right now. Amazon.com are even dragging their asses at the moment. Looks like collusion has hit the marketplace.
Quit Counting!!! Blu Ray Movies
175 HD DVD Movies
