Replacing PS3 with BDP-S590? - Blu-ray Forum

I have been contemplating getting rid of my 80GB PS3 and just replacing it with a Sony BDP-S590. I do not use the system for gaming anymore (sold all the games), just for watching blu-rays and movies on my usb drive. From the sale I will have enough for the S590 with movie left over for movies or a new drive.

My question is, does the BDP-S590 handle playing movies from a USB drive the same as a PS3? Is there any issue I would have changing (picture quality?)

I have this player and it's great ... I use external 2TB hard drive with various file types and it plays them fine. There are some file types that are not supported but all the files that are supported are listed in the manual which is available online at Sony BDP-S590 manual
