I just bought the sony bdp s590 on amazon for 108. It'll be 99 at best buy on black friday.

This is what I recommend.

Sony blu ray players are the best.

(Some would say Oppo and that's fine,.. Either way, Oppo is never lowest priced.)

Samsung are the worst.

Haven't tried other brands.

I was wondering about a decent cheap blu-ray player.

My 19 year old daughter wants to get her boyfriend one for Christmas. It doesn't need to be 3D but she did want WIFI built in for Netflix.

I found this Sony BDPBX39/Sony BDP-S390 on Amazon.com. The Sony BDP-S390 is without a HDMI cable and is $99 and weirdly, the Sony BDPBX39 is the same thing but with a HDMI cable and is $89.99. Seems like a great price for Sony.

How would you rate the LG BP325W compared to the Sony BDPBX39/Sony BDP-S390? Is it worth paying $20 more for the Sony? Dell currently has the LG for $69.99 with free shipping (but has tax). Tiger Direct have it for $69.99 with free shipping today too. Newegg apparently had it for $59.99 on 11/9 but it sold out quickly thanks to it being front page at Slickdeals.

i dont own that model of lg player but i am told that the sony has no digital display on the front of the unit. for me this is unacceptable
i think the lg does have a display. i cant find any reviews of that lg because it a new model
please verify this info before buying i may be wrong

Both of my Sony blu-ray players have a display, just no time. I've been reading that the LG doesn't have anything but On/Off and Eject on the front is if you lost your remote, there's nothing to press play. Not a big deal for me...but a 20 year old college kid sharing a house with 3 other guys...I could see it getting lost. Newegg had the LG for $59.99 on 11/9 but it sold out. Would have definitely snapped it up for that.

That's the LG BP520. 3D and wireless ready (via dongle or hardwired). 2012 model...steal. Got mine today
