These all seem pretty well-liked from what I've seen.

+1 on Hannibal.

A lot of people really hate it. Whereas I have always preferred it to Silence of the Lambs - SOTL is a good film but Hannibal is better. Hannibal is perhaps an exercise in style over substance (as with a lot of Scott films) but what style!

The soundtrack is brilliant as you say - one of my favourites. Love how they reused one key piece for the Kingdom of Heaven DC.

Some of mine -

Hannibal (obviously, see above. Better than SOTL!)
Godfather 2 (better than the first, just)
Godfather 3 (not as good as the first two obviously but still a very good film)
The Empire Strikes Back (as good as the first)
Terminator 2 (not as good as Terminator but still a great film)
Aliens (not as good as Alien but still a great film)
Predator 2 (not as good as Predator but still very good)

Most of those sans Predator 2, Godfather III and Hannibal are well-liked and universally praised. This is about sequels that are generally disliked or not that recognized.

Jaws 2. Not in the same league as the first film, but a nice follow-up. Much better than the other two sequels.

The Matrix Reloaded-Good sequel, it's just a shame that Revolutions had to suck IMO.

Alien 3 assembly cut- I enjoyed the theatrical cut, but this cut vastly improves the film.

Godzilla Raids Again- It was the last film in the showa era to have a dark tone like the original in 1954. The US edit Gigantis is also a great blend of the film but more 50s shlocky.

Definitely agree. Only changes I disliked were,

[Show spoiler]changing the host from a Rottweiler to an ox (the former made much more sense) and omitting the Chestburster from Ripley's death at the end.

I may have mentioned Rambo III before a few pages back, can't remember if I did. While my least favorite of the series I still enjoy it a lot, pure old-school Action mayhem and excitement.

Shock Treatment. The soundtrack is tremendous, even if they were re-purposed from the aborted Rocky Horror Shows His Heels, and susequently taken out of context.

As originally envisioned, the song Breaking Out was Brad flinging open the ol' closet doors and outing himself as a transvestite, but changed to be asong about rebelion, even though they didn't change the words.

Wanna bet that Twilight Time will end up releasing this, and it will doubtless sell out on pre-order, with so many RHPS fans waiting for it.

I still haven't seen The Matrix sequels, but Reloaded seems to have it's share of fans and defenders, whereas Revolutions is pretty much universally disliked.

If it had been only one movie then everyone would have been happy.

The Planet of the Apes sequels. It is a shame that the budgets got chopped for each but really the sequels are fantastic movie and did well with the budget they had. You were never going to top the first movie but the rest I think are actually a lot better in terms of thier moral(except for the whole blowing up the planet thing in the second one).
