I honestly don't even remember the latest Jack Ryan movie going out as Dolby Atmos mix - Dolby doesn't list it - but then of course, nor are they doing a consistent job at the standard 7.1 releases.

Is 7.1 really all that and a bag of chips?

Yes, especially for native mixes.

You guys are right, I apologize Goof. I traced it back to an erroneous listing. It was not mixed or presented in Atmos anywhere.

I did not see the film theatrically but it might be a "stealth" native 7.1 title like World War Z was.

No problem. I have unbolded it for now until we can get confirmation.

what do you mean by 'stealth' ? the theatrical DCP of 'World War Z' was encoded in 5.1 and 7.1

Because if you go to Dolby's site listing 7.1 titles you won't find WWZ, nor did anyone remember seeing it in that format.

Dolby's upkeep and updating of 7.1 films is a complete joke - there a number of 7.1 titles that aren't getting included on the master list for the sheer reason that someone at Dolby isn't doing there job. Do you see 'Noah' (or even 'Muppets Most Wanted' or 'Divergence'?) - uh... no, under Atmos, but as a standard 5.1 and 7.1 mix ... as far as Dolby is concerned the latter mix doesn't exist ... sad just sad.

I thought we confirmed this on the Deluxe (or was it Technicolor?) website that World War Z's DCP contained a 7.1 soundtrack?

I think because DCPs contain LPCM soundtracks, not specially encoded in Dolby or Datasat. And it's up to individual cinema whether or not they choose to process the soundtrack with a Dolby or Datasat receiver. Thus, Dolby doesn't keep an updated list of 7.1 movies.

This isn't like in the past where Dolby, DTS and SDDS had vastly different methods of presenting their soundtracks on 35mm film.

Deluxe

in regards of what Dolby considers pertinent to keep updated is questionable - even if a movie has a core 7.1 mix and uses it in the Atmos mix but then in turn doesn't indicate that 'said' core mix exists in the first place - seems a bit half assed.

Added The Walking Dead: S4 and a lot of re-releases.
