So I have to take my wife to the airport in the morning as she's going out of town for work. I have the day off and figured since I'd be out anyways I'd make a day of "me" time. Browsing ny Fandango app I saw my local Cinemark is playing Blade Runner tomorrow and didn't hesitate to order me a ticket. Really freakin' stoked about this. After seeing Die Hard on the big screen last month I really can't believe I've knocked two off my list of must sees on the big screen this close together. Can't wait!

It's cool that theaters are still willing to do this, I'd love to go, but it's a bit like pissing into the wind if there's no circulation of the info in the community. If blu-ray.com had a dedicated thread for repertory screening dates, I'd watch it like a hawk. Unfortunately, only two Cinemarks in my state, and neither showing it tomorrow.

25 minutes! I'd be surprised if I wasn't the only one at this showing. Decided to go to a Target around the corner before and scored a 55' 4K TV for 280 bucks so I have to pick that up after. What a lovely day!

A 55" 4k TV for $280?

How is that possible?

...brand?

Yes a thread for theatrical rereleases would be great if someone started one. I would have never known to check my local theaters for Blade Runner if I hadn't stumbled on Ray Jacksons post about seeing it a couple days ago. I probably would have also missed stuff like the Disney Screen and Hateful Eight 70mm without discussions here bringing them to my attention.

Blade Runner today on the big screen was awesome! I had to go by myself but I didn't mind, I realise BR isn't a film for everyone. This is one of my favorite movies and it was great to see it in the theater considering it was originally released 6 years before I was born.

It's not higher end by any means, it's an Element leftover from their BF sales from what I can gather and it was 280.01 marked down from 399.99.

Question

I just picked up the Digi-book this afternoon at BB, with a couple of Rewards certificates it was only a little over three bucks out of pocket. I've only seen the film one time (about ten years ago) and remember hating it (I'm not a big Sci-Fi fan). I figured with it being so cheap I'd give it another shot. Which version of the film should I watch?

The Final Cut, as it has the remastering improvements.

I would normally say theatrical. But Blade Runner is a rare case in which I'd recommend the Final Cut to first-time (or first-time-in-a-while) viewers. I think it moves the best (though it's still somewhat slow-paced), and the absence of the voiceover narration actually makes it more immersive.

Hmmm. I think Id recommend the International cut to a first time viewer as the narration helps someone completely new to the film. And then they can watch The Final Cut of course.

It's not his first time seeing it. And since his first time was 10 years ago it very well might have been the Diresctor's Cut anyway.

I have always recommended to watch The Final Cut first and then the International Cut. Then the Workprint Cut for those really interested.

Yep. Those three have been my choices for a while now. The other two are redundant to me but its still nice to have the choice of course!

We got rather spoilt on Blade Runner luckily.
