As far as Kubrick goes I've never seen Fear and Desire, Killer's Kiss has nice cinematography but it's kind of amateurish, and Spartacus is a wonderfully flawed big studio epic, but the rest of his films I like so much I have trouble at the moment really placing one over the other.

Yeah and some new special features too. Most of the stuff on there are EPK puff pieces from 1999/2000. Plus we've gotten new nuggets of info about how complete the film actually was upon Kubrick's death:

Absolutely.

I will say though, at least the current disc doesn't take on the hard, overly-digital look that some catalog titles do from the earlier days of the format.

Just finished rewatching this film for the first time in years.

Is this the greatest swan song by any director? I'm inclined to say so.

It's Kubrick's finest in my eyes. A mysterious end to a mysterious career and filmography.
"She came along the alley and up the back steps the way she always used to. Doc hadn't seen her for over a year. Nobody had. Back then it was always sandals, bottom half of a flower-print bikini, faded Country Joe & the Fish t-shirt. Tonight she was all in flatland gear, hair a lot shorter than he remembered, looking just like she swore she'd never look."

.
Damn, you got me all excited for a possible new BD release.

But yeah, it's a great movie. I don't know if it's the greatest swan song, but it certainly is in the conversation.

They're both up there, and let's not forget about Tarkovsky's Offret aka The Sacrifice.

Yep. For me, this is the only Kubrick I think about after the fact. The mysteriousness of it all... And it looks so beautiful, with the Christmas lights everywhere and each light has this hazy, dreamy, glow to them.
