3D on comcast is terrible. I would never waste any time watching any 3D material other than a live sporting event through Comcast. If the 3D wasn't free with the HD packages, I'd be extremely mad at the piss poor quality. If I'm correct, it's only 540i since they are splitting the 1080i signal for left and right.

Default video unlimited and 3net

Of the four 3-D categories here, this seemed the most appropriate forum to post this in.

Yesterday, I went to rent some 3net tv shows, since my cable company doesn't carry it, and everything from 3net on "video unlimited" said "no products available".

It was and still is all gone except for theatrical movies not from 3net.

I don't rent the theatrical movies from Sony's "video unlimited" since I buy those on disc if I'm interested in the movie.

However, I would rent some of the 3net programs since those are currently unavailable to me any other way. ( I did once months ago).

I was wondering if anyone knows what happened, why they took off all of the on-demand 3net programs?

Netflix just announced streaming 3D available today. For now it is only available on PS3 and select LG 3D TVs and only if you have a participating ISP. The selection I've heard is mostly documentaries at this time. They also announced improved 1080p streaming that they are calling SuperHD that also requires a participating ISP but is available on more devices. Still kinda limited but at least it's a start.

Namely, an ISP that uses Open Connect networks.
To check: https:slash-slashsignup.netflix.com/superhd (Replace blue italics with // )

Mine doesn't (Comcast).

Now, I hope apple now jumps on the bandwagon and offer 3d streaming and HD sound formats.

Crossing fingers.

Or better yet, full-download, as iTunes and Vudu offers.
3D can only come through on a 720-1080 HD stream, and if that's the stumbling block for streaming-only sites like Netflix and Amazon, and cause technical problems for folks at the other end, might be too much trouble.

Default Netflix streaming 3D

Just had a update on my ps3 yesterday and noticed a 3D section. Haven't tried it yet. One title I wanted to check out is "shark night".

This is exciting news in one sense, but still a let-down to a lot since not all ISP's have "Open Connect", which is required for their 3D streams.

Streaming 3D from Netflix is a good option to introduce. I wonder if it'll be side by side or top bottom format? Are they able to MVC encode streaming video?

I'm really quite impressed with the video quality of the 3D being streamed. Nice, crisp picture that's just as good, to the untrained eye, as Blu Ray 3D. Currently they have mostly 3Net and IMAX 3D presentations, but there are a few Hollywood movies mixed in as well. At the moment, the movies aren't streaming in 3D for some strange reason. Even though they are in the 3D "genre" on Netflix. So there must be a bug preventing them from playing properly.

They also introduced a "format" called SuperHD which basically amps up the quality of the video to 1080p. That video quality is quite impressive itself.

Has anyone tried this with XBOX yet?

I get my internet through ATT - U Verse... We pay for the fastest speed possible, this would be awesome since Netflix's selection the past few months hasn't really been all that good - I've debated dumping them.

To answer my own question, and anyone who doesn't have Cablevision in America:

click here to get bummed out

Can't say I'm surprised... ATT holds the key to my connection, Microsoft holds the relationship on the XBOX - 2 companies known for being completely stubborn..

Can someone help me understand why vudu can offer 3d and HD over regular high speed Internet but Netflix can't?

This works for me, but the only movie I know for sure is in 3d is Immortals. Anyone know an easy way to search for 3d movies? Just typing 3d doesn't work really.
