For those who have had the VCI release for some time now, what are you thoughts? Still a decent release, at least image-wise? Or is it worth still going with the BU release? I have yet to see the film all the way, but I'm a huge Storaro fan and definitely want to enjoy the photography the best way possible.

Regarding the compression artifacts on this release, as well, how much do they distract?

If somebody was willing to part with it, I would pay 20 dollars for JUST the case and artwork for the original Blue Underground Blu-ray of The Bird With The Crystal Plumage. I was able to obtain the disc, but without a case. PM me if interested (I may pay more than 20 dollars).
Blu-ray Wishlist: Silent Night, Bloody Night; Prom Night 2-4; Let's Scare Jessica to Death; Alice, Sweet Alice; Return to Sleepaway Camp; Fright Night, Part II; Where the Truth Lies; Ginger Snaps II & III; Perfect Blue; The Swan Princess

I've got the VCI blu and think it looks great. I really didn't notice any "compression artifacts", but then I don't really look for them.

If you want the extras then go for the BU blu, if not then the VCI blu looks just as good as the BU one, IMO.

I know this is old but has anyone else listened to the Italian audio track on this? My edition seems to have an odd hum through most of the film. I am not sure if this is just my disc as it is not present on the English track.

The plus with the VCI is that it has the original soundtrack, and not a remix like what's found on the BU disc. If one can deal with the lesser compression, the VCI disc might be the way to go, if one is a purist.
