Right. I understood that the Eureka release of The Blue Angel Blu-ray beat the original Kino release in both AV quality and extras. DVD Beaver is clear on that.

But this new 2-disc "Ultimate" edition from Kino seems to have pulled out all stops. Before I buy, is there any comparison link of the Eureka release with the new Kino one?

Default Review is up on 2nd Kino

Casey Broadwater has just posted his review of the newest Kino release of The Blue Angel. He likes the video in the English version slightly more than the German version, but he does not compare or even mention the MOC release.

It seems that it does not contain the commentary found on their older DVD release so I guess I will keep my copy around after all. If you enjoy extras and can view out of region Blu-rays then the MOC release might be a better one to get.

This is the only web site I follow, so I do not know if there are any direct comparisons of the Kino versus the MOC releases. To be honest, the movie is so old I probably could not notice much of a differance between the 2.

Seems like the better version is still the MoC, at least has more extras, from the screenshots they look like the same to me.

Just ordered the Deluxe Edition from Kino which was on sale.
So what can I expect from this? Does it stand out in terms of A/V quality for being such an old title?

Is it worth getting the Kino Edition instead of the MOC edition? I just ordered the Kino today (it was on sale) but if it's worth getting on the horn and cancel before it ships, then order the MOC edition I'd do it.
Price-wise they are just about the same.

Do you want more and better extras? Then the MOC release is the way to go.

I am more interested in the most clear, detailed, sharp, and refined picture+sound

Well, as far as I know, there isn't much of a difference between the two releases. So what it comes down to is the extras which clearly goes to MOC.

Yes Extras are always a welcomed bonus, but picture quality comes first. Does MoC also comes with both German and English versions?

Yes, of course. The review on this site breaks it all down: http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-Bl.../57225/#Review

I'm not sure the PQ is drastically better on this MOC version, but maybe a hair. The extras make the MOC a better buy if you can play it
I have a multi region player but the Kino bluray had already shipped by the time I called to cancel my order

Kino customer service e told me that I could send the item back and they will issue a refund once they receive it. But honestly, I don't think it's worth the hassle especially since it was on sale. In the end, what matters is the quality of the film itself. I am also very curious to see how much the German and English versions differ.
Have you had the chance to compare the two versions? Is the English version dubbed or do actors actually speak English?

The English version featured the actors speaking English unless my memory is wrong (again)-- heavily accented at times
Look forward to post my review!
