I saw it in Target today. Regular and 3D. Both had slips.

I am not a slipcover addict, but it DOES make a BD more valuable, simply because it only comes with one in the initial pressing.
If not, I would just wait until BF or so. I am in Europe, so I can't purchase anything at BB or Target, etc.. Thanks guys. Has no one ordered it from amazon.com recently? |

Pisses me off so much that they have the trailer on the 3D disc but not on the 2D disc.

Because trailers are awesome and sometimes even better than the movie they're selling? Seriously, my biggest gripe with BD is that trailers are no longer the standard for included special features like they were with DVD.
Love me some trailers.

I bet that's because we can find most trailers online (YouTube)

I think it's because quite often trailers include licensed music not in the final film (because the actual score isn't done yet, or just because they think the licensed music is more effective).
I remember reading that some studios got in trouble slapping trailers on DVDs, thinking they had the rights to the music contained in them. They probably just figured it was safer to leave all the trailers off as a blanket policy. I agree, it's a shame, there can be a great deal of artistry in trailers. |

Perhaps 3D discs generally are considered to be a "premium" item and typically contains more features than the standard 2D version.

It should be the most common and expected bonus feature to include a trailer or two to the movie that's on the disc (not just promotional previews for other films in the distributor's catalog). Because when you own the disc and have people over for some other movie, you can precede it with trailers to movies you're planning to run on upcoming movie nights.
This is much easier to do when you've got two Blu-ray players wired into your A/V amplifier/switcher, so you can cue up a trailer on one player as the other is playing and thus not need to submit your guests to all the forced FBI warnings and pre-menu content. It's really annoying, though, when the trailers on a Blu-ray are bad SD transfers of beat-up and faded old trailers. I really wish that distributors would sell Blu-rays of HD trailers for maybe 200 or so movies in their catalog on one disc, with menus divided into genres, stars, and/or directors, and especially with user-programmable play order (as well as a note of the aspect ratio for those of us with constant-height projection setups). |
