****ing hate the MPAA. I saw that documentary you've been talking about lately. While I like and appreciate their ratings system, some consistency would go a long way. Jaws is rated PG and a guy gets eaten from his feet up to his stomach and dies on-screen. And earlier in the film we see a freaking severed leg sink in the water.

I wish the script would leak. I would love to read what was changed.

This Film Is Not Yet Rated.

Here's the trailer.

It's weird how the system really works. I've you've ever heard Kevin Smith battle them over it. Or go to youtube and type in Adam Green MPAA. He's the director of Hatchet and Frozen. he talks about how the MPAA allows the stuios to get away with stuff. But if you try the same stuff in a lower budget film you'll be trouble or get a NC-17 rating.

ummmmm didn't Adam Green create a death on Hatchet 2 by having some girl get axed in her lady junk? there's a limit to how mean spirited you can be

Yeah, I meant that I saw the film itself, not that you were talking about it.

I'm going to check out those Adam Green videos. I've ran across them, but never watched.

Yes, but you don't actually see it go in. Plus it's suppose to be comedic that something like that would ever happen. or a 15 foot chainsaw cutting two guys in half while in mid air. Almost cartoon violence really, that it's so goofy. But gritty realistic horror stuff gets a pass though.

It's not like the distributor had the money to send it to a wide release?

Well, you know now. Plus if you ever made a film would you wanna have to deal with stuff you thought was unfair just cause you had a lower budget then other movies with way more offensive stuff. Like you were just getting kicked around for the hell of it.

The first half of Hatchet was pointless crap though. At least the movies Adam Green mentioned were interesting all the way through.

How's it pointless? Cause it's a comedy? But all those were studio films that were depicted as realistic. Some could say whatever movie you write is pointless cause who or what the characters are.

But I'm not gonna say anymore to derail this thread.

Despite being released on blu-ray/dvd 2 weeks ago, PITCH PERFECT is still making money in theatres. Yesterday it made $41,175.

Weekend estimates for this movie are $139,000

How is this still in theatres and making money? Amazing.

I'm so proud of this movie.

Production Budget: $17 million

Worldwide: $107,124,093

Sold 357,639 blu-rays in its first week, earning $7,149,202

Sold 1,432,851 DVDs in 2 weeks, earning $26,205,874

That's all the Blu-ray/DVD sales info so far. The movie made back its own budget in DVD sales and then some.

Why aren't they fast tracking a theatrical sequel?

I've seen the documentary that was discussed and this is an old comment, but FYI, the MPAA does not specifically say what to cut. They will make strong overtures about specific scenes, but they stop short of actually saying "just cut this one moment," or whatever.

Just saw that this was #4 in blu-ray sales last week. I would love to see it's total sales. Doing pretty well considering it never dropped below $19.99

This film has been $19.99 forever. Any chance of dropping lower any time soon? I love the movie and don't mind paying 20 bucks, but if I've waited this long I'd hate to buy it now just to see it drop in the next few weeks.

Best Buy's Upgrade & Save.. you can get it for $14.99

I don't blame them for not lowering the price. It's selling decently.

It can be had for $14.99 at Best Buy with their upgrade and save program. Meaning if you trade in a commercially made dvd you get $5 off any blu ray $9.99 or higher. Since it's on sale there for $19.99 it be $14.99 after the trade in.
