Thanks for the heads up... I think I might wait a little longer and hope for a US stand alone release

Hopefully, that will be this year. FYI, the new 5.1 track is much better on the blu-ray now and I never play the mono track now.

You really can't get an individual release of "Vertigo" here in America? Very bizarre considering that, to my knowledge, you can buy all the more obscure Hitch titles that were in the bigger box set individually. I just recently bought "Shadow of a Doubt" and "Saboteur" as the bigger box set was out of my price range, but for $50 I could buy this "Essentials" collection which was perfect, then I could get whatever other Hitch films I want individually on blu-ray.

Really is a crime that there is no "Vertigo" single release on blu here in R1. Amazon seems to be featuring a region free release, but if your anything like me, all you desire is a proper release version from Universal in R1, extras and all.

I'd like to buy the set and then sell off one or two of the movies on ebay.

The 5 movies come in a fold out box, you don't get individual Blu-ray cases.

Agreed. While I like all these movies, I do already have North by Northwest. And would personally prefer this for an individual release.

I just recently ordered Rear Window and Vertigo from the UK as I already own Psycho and North by Northwest (not a fan of the Birds) and got tired of waiting for the individual releases here in the states. Is the remastered audio on the Vertigo blu-ray a botch job like Terminator? I didn't miss the original mono on Psycho and North by Northwest as the remasters were done tastefully well. Hopefully Vertigo is the same.

Absolutely agree. So many of Hitchcock's movies available individually... just got Rope the other day... but not Vertigo and my all time favorite Hitchcock Rear Window. As I said before I'm just not a fan of "collections" and really don't like cardboard packaging so I'll wait a little longer and if nothing happens I'll get the UK releases (although I don't like the wider cases and the large geometrically shaped warning labels on their releases)

Kind of upsetting that there is no proper R1 release of "Lifeboat" either. The Hitchcock catalog is all over the place, some stuff is public domain it seems, stuff with Paramount, Warner Bros., Universal, Hitch got around.

Whoever was asking about a stand alone issue of "Vertigo", rejoice, it's coming on 6/3/14 with all the other popular Hitch titles that were in the 'essentials' collection.

$37.99 at Amazon.com again. Not as cheap as before, but definitely better than the $50 it's been sitting at for a while.

I'm glad these are finally being released as individual titles. I have the Essentials Collection, but frankly, the packaging is a total pain in the a$$ to get the disks out. I'll keep it, but I wish I had waited for the individual releases.
