When checking for TIV for 10 or more blus, it would be easier for them to scan the titles instead of checking for them in the system. Especially since there are different versions (single disc, combo pack) in their system. Also, virtually no store will take trade-in values over the phone. You must go to the store first.

I've called many stores and have been told whether a title qualifies or not.

My store is kind of funny. I've been told that they cannot help in ANY WAY over the phone. So, in order to get questions answered, I have to make the hour trip.

Then you're lucky because the stores in your area probably had a nice manager or cashier who didn't know any better. If you only ask for say, 3 titles or less, yeah, they might oblige. AFAIK, the policy is not to give trade-in values over the phone. The point is to drive customers to the store with their own blu-rays so that they can determine what qualifies or doesn't. Keep in mind, that you live in just 1 state, and that most, if not all other store locations will not be as lenient as the stores in your local area.

Well yeah, I only ask for 3 or 4 titles. That's why I told him to call multiple stores. I'm sorry that the stores in your area don't do this, but there are at least 4 or 5 that I know that do. There's no harm in him trying, right?

No harm indeed. I just don't like the inconsistency on their part, much like the recent issues with BBY's U&S+MF coupon.

Yeah, I can understand that. And are you saying that people have been declined using U&S with MF coupons? I haven't tried, but that seems ridiculous since they get the money back.

Yeah, it seems to be a 50/50 split over in the U&S thread. Some can't get their store to budge because they think it's considered "double-dipping," while others have much smoother transactions because Best Buy actually follows their policy. Like you said, they get reimbursed afterwards regardless. Some mangers are just too thick-headed to realize this. Very YMMV, even though it shouldn't be.

Does Silver Linings Playbook still trade in for $14? I'm thinking of trading it in?

Yes, it's still $14. I just called my local Moviestop to confirm. I believe it's still $3 for the DVD disc alone if you want to keep the blu-ray.

Cool. Thanks man. I watched the special features and they weren't too special. An iTunes digital copy will suffice. Same for Django but I guess that will have dropped by now

Yeah, I wasn't too impressed with the special features either. Keeping the DC copy and trading the blu-ray in while it's still "hot" is a brilliant idea because you'll get to watch the movie whenever you want, and you get back $14 in store credit that you can use for a possible new release. You definitely chose the right movie, because at this rate, SLP is bound to be $9.99 or less come BF season.

Hey Kira, any word on whether there'll be some sort of promo/BLAP for the Miyazaki movies coming out next week?

I trade in most every new release while the trade in value is high and the handful of movies that I think are worth owning I'll rebuy for $6 or less with-in 18 months of their release date.

Went a dozen or so miles out of the way today to check out a Moviestop I'd never been in before. Was quite happy to find this.

Waiting to see Best Buy's ad leak. If not, will post on Friday the final BLAP.

I have the same question for Vegas Vacation. I was pleasantly surprised that Shanghai Noon/Knights had a reserve price. Hoping for the same with this.
BTW can I buy a Bat Cowl or should I just send you some boxed mac and cheese and some canned beans and we call it even?

Saw BB's ad, and all of these titles were not advertised. Will report Friday with final BLAP.

I've been surprised that a lot of catalog and Criterions have had BLAP for the past few weeks.
