Hmmmmm....another remix album? Really, Rob?

As a long-time RZ fan*, I hafta say that this reeks of cash-grab.

it's probably to get his name buzzing for the new album he's working on.

Also, it's been reported that there will be exclusive digital EPs with songs from the album and bonus songs leading up to the release

From the rolling stones link

How did you come up with the concept for the cover of Mondo Sex Head?
I thought it fit the vibe of the record perfectly and had an old-school, Ohio Players vibe. I never thought it would be a problem since it seemed tame to me . . . but it was. No one would carry the CD. Anything with death and violence is totally fine, but anything with sex, forget about it. So instead of censoring that cover and ruining it, I just removed the ass shot and replaced it with a ***** shot.

Rob hasn't released a good album since The Sinister Urge. His remix albums are awful and Educated Horses was mediocre.

I thought Hellbilly Deluxe 2 (especially the deluxe edition) was fantastic

I think the double entendre would be lost on more than a few fans.

As for sexy covers, I remember seeing these in stores (except Walmart, but it's Walmart, so no explanation there):

Even if Walmart and Target refused to carry this, other retailers could have stepped in to fill the role.

Yeah, but those came out before Janet Jackson got the FCC into fining heavily for similar stuff on TV. I'd guess that the folks that run retail simply don't want the hassle these days, to be honest. There's enough Bieber, Gaga, Maroon 5, et al, to sell, which (unfortunately for those of us who like real music) is viewed as "less offensive".

I could be wrong, but I'm sure that the bottom line is/was, Rob would lose his ass in America with that 1st cover, because big retail won't carry it. And, I dunno 'bout you, but I don't have very much selection around here when it comes to Mom & Pop record stores. They're mostly 20+ miles from me, and often, much, much further.

No thanks. I will however take a live Blu-ray of the last tour, please.
