I think giving some red flowers or chocolates would be nice idea on Valentines day either to a male or female, which i always prefer. Would be different for other people according to their liking and disliking.

I do too, but it didn't stop me from buying my fiancé a dozen roses, giant reeses heart chocolate, small reeses heart chocolate, and a Hershey's Pot o Gold.

I'm sure most of us do, but most men just celebrate it because it means so much to the ladies. I don't think men enjoy being ripped off buying a dozen roses.

And most men know that 99% of the time when they say "don't get me anything" that it is exactly the opposite of what they really want you to do.

I'm the same way, and we're coming up on our 33rd anniversary. We were together 4 years before that.

I counted the marriages of her sisters - the husbands marriages, and their wives. Two couples.

9 marriages. I kid you not. But man, do they do up all the greeting card holidays - flowers (big arrangements), exotic candies, dinners at just the right restaurants, lots of references to "sweetie" and "honey" - it's amazing. Of course, it's a huge topic - where did you go, what did he give you, what did the card say, all that.

9 marriages. I guess you can get something right if you do it enough.

Nothing wrong with the day - it's just not something you save up for a special day. It's every day, really.

Or any day.
