Riddick Blu-ray

Quote:
Vin Diesel reprises his role as the antihero Riddick in the latest chapter of the groundbreaking saga. A dangerous, escaped convict wanted by every bounty hunter in the known galaxy, Riddick has been left for dead on a sun-scorched planet that appears to be lifeless. Soon, however, he finds himself fighting for survival against alien predators more lethal than any human he's encountered. The only way off is for him to activate an emergency beacon and alert mercenaries who rapidly descend to the planet in search of their bounty. With time running out and a deadly storm on the horizon that no one could survive, his hunters won't leave the planet without Riddick's head as their trophy. Also starring Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica), Karl Urban (Star Trek Into Darkness) and Dave Bautista (WWE). Experience the Riddick: Unrated Directors Cut with an alternate ending!

yeah... its a bummer to wait. but really... the cost for 2 of us just to go to the theater is $23 already... and our theaters around here are never loud enough, so the talkers really ruin the movie.

Not a tough choice. Think about how badass Pitch Black was now imagine being able to see that in IMAX! Yeah my Wife loves the Riddick films and character so we're there.

Think about how not as badass The Chronicles of Riddick was. I'm using my last Wolverine/any movie $10 coupon to see it in the theater before deciding if its a release day buy or a wait for the price to fall buy.

Actually I still thought Chronicles was Badass, The character just rocks. But this one is more in line with Pitch Black, However I would love to see Riddick as the Leader of the Necromongers kicking ass in the Underverse

I absolutely loved PITCH BLACK so I don't mind if "Riddick" turns out to be a pseudo-remake of it like many people are saying, but I must ask anyway: is it anything like the original?

It definitely has similarities, and some intentional ties to the the first, but it's a good 30 minutes at least before any of that starts. I think the Riddick character works better in this type of film than in a mythology-wrapped film like Chronicle was. I like all three films- Pitch Black is my favorite, but this is a close second.

With this coming out on Blu-ray, I'm wondering if they'll release an updated box set with Pitch Black/Chronicles of Riddick/Riddick (and hopefully include Dark Fury)? I don't own any of 'em yet, so I'm kind of hoping.

What was the aspect ratio in IMAX? I saw Man of Steel in IMAX 3D and was pretty underwhelmed by the big empty screen areas over and under the 2.39:1 image... Is Riddick also in 2.39:1 in IMAX?
