Just Ordered My First Plasma

Panasonic VIERA TC-P60GT50 60-Inch that will arrive Tues am to replace my much smaller 46" Mitsubishi LED from 2008. The Samsung panels in it have started displaying a red, then green line. Its a known issue with that panel. Anyway, I really hope the new filters reduce the glare, its going in a bright room. Can't wait to experience the black levels it has, the reviewer said it was probably the best TV picture he has seen. First 3D TV too. It is arriving in time to watch Creature Of The Black Lagoon in 3D, part of the Universal Monsters release.

As for burn in, I have read its really not an issue now, but to be safe, no static displays for the first 200 hours when its most susceptible.

Usually plasma for brite rooms is not the best choice. Plasma really shines when the room is dark. Remember coming from LED the plasma picture will probably look dark to you. This is normal and you will adjust to it over time.

I have the TC-P55GT50 and usually for viewing in a bright room, use THX Bright Room Setting. Otherwise, use THX Cinema or CNET's Custom Setting for dark room viewing.

Hi,
Since its a big size tv,you are really going to like the picture quality while watching sports & soaps.But for the first 100 hrs at least watch videos in full screen mode.i.e with no black bars in the top/bottom or at the sides.
And if your HD channels have static logos at the sides,then use the zoom 1 or zoom 3 modes.

Amazon let me down. Supposed to be delivered today but the local shipper said that they didn't get the TV as of yesterday and would have to reschedule. So, called and cancelled and then called Best Buy, they matched the price and its coming Wed. Being that I have yet to have a flat screen last more than 6 years I did a lot of research and found the best warranty. They don't do that crap where they pay you what your TV is worth. Great price for this 60'' tv. I was looking at this very same tv on BB site and am considering it as well. Please let me/us know what your impressions are when you get it.

I am considering either the 60GT50, 55ST50, or LG's 6400 passive 3D. Two main factors I am looking at is pq and 3D performance.


Congrats by the way. Hope you love it and judging by some of what other members have said about Panny plasmas, I'm sure that you will.

Having a great time with the TV since Best Buy delivered it yesterday AM. Really surprised that the screen reflections aren't nearly as bad as i thought they would be. Picture in THX mode is EXCELLENT. First movie I watched was the new King Kong. Also streamed NetFlix and signed into the VUDU app. Doing that I got another $5.95 credit so I went around to all my devices and got $18 and bought Fright Night in HDX (their top DL quality 9mpbs plus), which is OOP and $200.

Off to watch some more movies!

Bought mine earlier this year (55" GT30) and LOVE LOVE LOVE it. This is coming from someone thats owned a projection TV and LCD TVs. I'm sold on plasma so nothing but from now on.

i have this exact tv, and it is magnificent. i love it so much, just makes you wonder why no one wants plasma :/ I hope you enjoy your tv as much as i do, although im nearing the end of my breaking period (im at 110 or so hours of full screen content) when i watched the super bowl or other sports, i flip the channel just to change the logo, and i have never seen a hint of IR. best of luck w/ your new tv!

I got my first plasma a few months ago the Samsung PN60E550.

Its fabulous.
