Default Iron Maiden- Maiden England '88

Anyone get this yet? I completely forgot it came out yesterday. Maiden is my favorite band, and I can't see myself not getting this.

I read good things about this recent DVD release so I decided to order it late last week. I got it today and, after supper, I cranked up the HT to demo some of it (about a half-hour's worth).

The Good:
- The band is in fine form.
- Lots of good songs, well-performed.
- Some great camera angles that put you RIGHT UP THERE next to the band.
- Excellent PCM Stereo mix.

The Bad:
- Some decent scenes notwithstanding, the overall PQ is pretty poor. Any scenes with red lighting, in particular, are thoroughly washed out. The PQ is better than VHS, I'm sure, but that's probably the extent of it.
- Disappointing multi-channel (DTS and DD) mixes. Bruce's vocals are WAY back in the mix and, overall, everything sounds anemic. The PCM Stereo mix, thankfully, is very full and rich. Straight up - or even matrixed with NEO:6 Cinema - it's far superior to either of the multi-channel mixes.
- Not the greatest set-list. I wouldn't have minded a couple less cuts from SSoaSS (6 of the album's 8 tracks are performed); the inclusion of a couple of cuts from "Powerslave"; and something other than "Still Life", which is one of the weaker songs from "Piece of Mind".

Having said all that, it's a decent show overall and I do look forward to watching the rest of it.

Seeing the extras on this, it is a must buy for me. 12 Wasted Years was a great video, so that alone makes it a no brainer for me. Plus the music videos as well as Maiden History part 3. Didn't they do another retro tour for this album like they did for Powerslave? If so I hope that gets a release on blu.

Yes, their North American tour last year was based off the '88 Maiden England tour.

Ok that's what I thought. Wouldn't mind seeing that get a release on Blu at some point if it ever comes out.
