It's Warner we're talking about, not a cheap studio, there would have been music if they wanted to. I don't know if it was Burton's or someone else's idea but it was quite bold of them to put out a trailer for superhero blockbuster without any music. Surely no studio would do that today, they play it so safe in marketing now it's really sad. And we can't say it didn't work given the Batmania and box office records that summer!

At the time, I was working as a projectionists at a theater that opened this. It was basically thrown together as a response to the "Beetlejuice as Batman...? You have got to be kidding me" backlash after Burton's casting announcement. I remember having "screenings" of the trailer for friends between the regular shows when it first was delivered (with management approval, of course... I spliced the trailer out of the core and looped it....)

When my wife and I started dating I was working as a projectionist and for a birthday present she bought several 35mm trailers including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Super Mario Bros, Mortal Kombat and the 89 Batman. I remember doing that same thing before our theater converted to digital, it was so cool putting those on the big screen as I remember seeing them.

Is the 2010 Blu-ray of Batman the same exact transfer as the 2009 digibook?

Yes. Same disc worldwide, no matter what edition.

The 20th Anniversary release just bungs in an additional extras disc.
Spread it like peanut butter jelly. Do it like I owe you some money.

So, is it just me, or does anyone else pick up an odd visual anomaly in the film right as the whole The Pen is Mightier Than the Sword sequence outside Gotham City Hall...

There seems to be a green-ish film that hovers over the establishing shot for a few seconds.

Anyone else catch that on their Blu? Or am I just unlucky? lol

RARE Batman '89 teaser trailer (late 1988) - YouTube

I'm always a 9 year-old boy again when I watch this teaser.
The next anniversary set Warner Bros. does for "Batman", it'd be nice if - along with a new restoration and either 7.1 DTS or Atmos - this was included as a bonus feature. The final trailer is awesome, but this deserves a place in HD.

I suggest afterwards to colorize all black and white films and crop them to widescreen, so that we'll bring ALL films to today's standards.
Wouldn't that be swell?

Of course a Dolby atmos audio will be mandatory.
Can't wait to listen to Casablanca with Atmos!
And of course all films should be degrained completely so that they look "pretty" in my brand new HD TV. I can't stand that little sand swirling in my films.

Considering Batman's overall sound mix isn't all that great and the existing 5.1 remix from years back isn't very impressive, upping the channel count won't help matters. Stereo is fine for a movie like this. Yes, I said stereo. For this Batman movie, anyway.

Yep, the mix was always lacklustre even in 89

Dolby Atmos, Dolby Atmos, Dolby Atmos... it's all I'm reading about on this forum lately. Is this the latest obsession? I can imagine it now for every catalogue release that is announced: 'Atmos or no purchase.' It'll be slipcover madness all over again.
I prayed for the death of Heather Chandler many times and I felt bad every time I did it, but I kept doing it anyway. Now I know you understood everything. Praise Jesus. Hallelujah.

I ordered Batman and Batman Returns from Amazon, really excited to check these movies out . Last year I caught a little bit of Batman (1989) on TV and I wasn't much for it, but I'm willing to give the movie another chance in HD.

Also for around $6 each, I couldn't really go wrong.
