It looks slightly worse but it's an SD documentary so it's not like it really matters. Also considering BDs last longer and are more durable it's still the better version IMO.

Only reason to get the original release is if you hate book packaging, I would say.

I believe Dangerous Days was shot using HD digital cameras.

WB being WB provided it in SD, but I think the aspect ratio had been altered as well.

Hopefully someone can confirm.

I don't think the ratio was changed, it's 16x9 after all. It just looks more compressed, lots of jagged edges and whatnot. Again though, it's a documentary, I wasn't bothered by it at all.

How much surround activity do the non-Final Cut versions of the film have?

But the Workprint in the 3 disc version was a new transfer and has lossless HDMA audio. In the 5 disc version it is VC1 and lossy audio.

Im not sure the new lossless audio makes that much difference in all honesty because it sounds rough either way. Not sure on the transfer difference as I havent compared it. We are very lucky to have the workprint in as good a state as it is though - I remember watching it on a dodgy VHS tape!
I'm running this monkey farm now Frankenstein!!! And I want to know....what the **** you are doing with my time?!!!

For those in the Washington DC area this year's Environment Film Festival is showcasing the 1982 US cut, the 1991 Director's CUT AND the Final Cut (March 20-21) at the AFI Silver - oh ... my ... god.

Also, for anyone in the Los Angeles area, tomorrow night the film is showing at the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood. The website confusingly states that it's the "Final Director's Cut," but I imagine it's the Final Cut.
