Default Pioneer Elite SC-61 or Denon AVR 2313?

Planning on upgrading my Onkyo TX-605 and I have been seriously considering either the Pioneer Elite SC-61 or Denon AVR 2313. Does anyone have any thoughts on these two receivers? Is the Denon a Class D amp? Looking for any advice, I'm torn as to which one will be the best.

Thanks
Tom

It depends on what you want out of a receiver? If room calibration is important to you then Pioneers mcaac has not changed since 2004. Audyssey XT or Multi EQ XT is something that most in the community favor.

Pioneers let you tweak more but don't do anything with the subwoofer frequency below 50hz.

Class D runs more efficiently, but i think if it was so great, then other manufacturers would have jumped on board. jmo of course.

If Pioneer would license audyssey for their receivers or at the very least update mcaac to handle subwoofer frequency down to 10hz, they would gain a lot more market share. I have heard Pioneer is in trouble. Not sure how true it is though???

Thumbs up

I have the cs-57 and am happy with it.
I'm a big believer in having many options to choose from and the 57 lets me play with multiple settings.
I enjoy tweaking.
Nothing wrong with the cs-57.

I am also looking at the 809 (tons of features) and some Denon's (2312, 2313). Not sure which way to go. Trying to get features and match well (warmth vs brightness) with my Infinity Primus speakers. I really want the Onkyo 818, but the price is up there right now.
RIP Nav. I will miss you buddy.

Default Loving my SC-61

I posted a review of the receiver on this website. Just search for it. You can also get a much more detailed and educated review from HomeTheater.com. Here is the link to the review for this AVR.
