Does it have subtitles? This still bothers me with Olive titles.

No Olive film has subtitles. Why should this have?

I was really looking forward to watching this on Blu last night as it is one of my all time favourite films and after reading the review on here I thought this was gonna look great, boy was I wrong..........however the PQ although the best I have ever seen it was to be honest good in places and decidedly off in others, mainly on indoor scenes where it seems the contrast had been boosted for some reason, also grain although visible at times would almost disappear into to this millkyness which set alarm bells ringing as it looks like it has a very poor encode. Looking at this it deserves much better treatment that hopefully one day it will receive.

PS
How the reviewer awarded this five stars is beyond me.

Agreed, that had a lot of us baffled at the time. If you'd like to read a more accurate description of the BD's PQ, check out Robert Harris' review...really spot on

Yes, I don't understand it either.
It looks quite ugly in places! Too much compression that I haven't seen such in another Bluray.

Totally agree. I have a very personal link to this film and would dearly love for it one day to receive the treatment it deserves.

Does anyone know how the Italian and Spanish releases compare to this?
Maybe they are better?

For starters, the Italian release seems to be a 50GB disc and not a 25GB one like the Olive.
So maybe the film has more room to breathe?

The Italian blu-ray is a bootleg. An illegal disc. "The Quiet Man" hasn´t got an official release there

are you sure?
I didn't know that.
How legal stores sell bootlegs is beyond me...

What about the Spanish one?

I´m German and Amazon.Germany are also selling bootlegs.

I wanted to order the Italian blu-ray because it also has a German Audio track on it but then they told me in a German forum that it´s a bootleg.

I haven´t got any information regarding the Spanish blu-ray though.
