Thank FN sux. I found this thread earlier today via google and pre-ordered it. Now I've got to cancel.

Well at least I didn't find out after it had been shipped.

I have canceled mine for now, sorry folks. I had two main points in favour of this edition: the signed poster and the Roadshow cut. Facsimile autographs are just ridiculous, and a version longue™ without a version longue™ doesn't make things better.

I suppose SND will either have to clarify this point, or change the artwork. As long as they do neither, they won't see my money.

(roadshow br and dvd and theatrical br + dvd).

the guy who replied has no clue, it's gonna be the roadshow, it's even written
on the digipak too "version longue 70mm ultra panavision" and there is the panavision sticker on it
One disc for the movie and another for the special features. It's likely there's some photoshop going on in the picture. Doesn't mean it's going to look like that when it's in your hand, and they might have been expecting to get the long version only to be disappointed themselves.

An article I just read says 6 minutes of extra footage, 10 minute intermission, and a screen that says "overture" for a few minutes at the beginning. Some of the scenes are also different takes not included in the other version...

The local theater is actually playing the roadshow version for 4 nights this week for $5... too bad it doesn't start until 10pm.

Until it's confirmed it's the Roadshow I'll hold off on ordering. Already cancelled anyway. If someone has to buy it and watch it to confirm it's the Roadshow, so be it. I'll gladly pay around $100 for the set in that case.

I'm more curious about the autographs. I know I'm probably just grasping at straws here, but is there any way "copy" is being misunderstood (copy as in "one of a number of items" vs. copy as in "photocopy")? I don't know if any translation between languages is occurring here.

See my feelings on that are it was too good to be true in the first place - the set would have been more expensive and a lot more limited if they were real. There is no way it would still be on sale.

I've seen many 4-folded digipacks with only 2 discs in it (and thus 2 sides which were only to have artworks on them).
HK Video were using them for many of their 2-DVDs releases for instance. It allows for more artwork but does not mean you're getting 1 disc per side.

For instance, see this Punch Drunk Love 4-folded digi with only 2 discs : http://s75.photobucket.com/user/see-...ve-06.jpg.html

I think they're talking about the statement on the official website that the set contains "4 parts", not the number of folds in the digipak.

The french phrasing is "4 volets", which does mean 4 folds, not 4 trays.

No Roadshow on Blu-ray then.

Any update on that Brazilian disc yet? It's rumored to have the Roadshow cut but at this point I'm not expecting it to be released anywhere.

Interesting. They silently threw around the entire artwork.

  • On the main box, the mug shots have disappeared, the title was moved up and "Version Longue" is gone.
  • The digipak design is entirely different. The inscription "Version Longue 70mm Ultra Panavision" is gone.
  • The film script ("Scenario") is gone.
  • The digipak clearly shows that it has only two trays for two discs.
  • The film frame has the film title now.
I was right to cancel.

I should get more info a bit later but the first feedbacks I received from SND are the same as above :

- No Roadshow version
- No printed scenario at all
- the French book is still there
- the 70mm film frame is still there
- 2xVinyl OST is still there
- there will be no additional extra specific to the boxset

I don't have confirmation who will have their signature on the poster. It won't be an original signature (duh) but a reproduction, but no additional precision so far.
