The picture links don't work for me.

There is a difference but quite often clips used in 'making ofs' eft look different to the true look of the film.

But who knows for sure, and I really wouldn't want a "Halloween" style colour timing mega-discussion on the subject

Oh certainly, and I have no idea of what is supposed to be right.
I was just wondering if the movie was supposed to be that dark. As I said, I was surprised by how dark they first driving time is, because it's supposed to be a sunny afternoon. And then, I watched the extras and BOOM, full light.

Looking at the comparison with the German BD, it seems indeed that the US BD is too dark to be honest.

How do you know that the DE disc is not too bright? I have seen countless DE, FR, and UK discs that have the contrast cranked up too high.

Yup. I know this movie really well, including theater release and I always thought it was a somewhat dark film. Most of the interior shots of Miss Daisy's house are dark, which made her house a bit depressing.

Honestly, the U.S. disc is the best presentation I have ever seen of the film.

Yes, in the theater, the film was dark. Her house (outside and in) was very dark. The entire film had a sepia like cast to it like the U.S. Blu-ray.
