The quote Snyder used to introduce it ...

Quote:
"I want you to remember Clark," he says, "in all the years to come. In all your private moments. In all the years to come, my hand at your throat. I want you to remember, the one man who beat you."
Could he possibly let Bruce Wayne die on the big screen
[Show spoiler](kinda)
?

Possibly but I doubt it would happen before a JLA film, at least not as anything more than a red herring,
[Show spoiler]like Bruce Wayne's death in TDKR.

My sentiments exactly. I think Snyder using that quote from TDKR was just a way of saying that Superman and Batman will fight each other at some point in the film. I don't think the ending will be anything like TDKR.

I got the impression that the Batman/Superman movie was taking the place of the sequel production-wise.

I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out to be more like Man of Steel 2 with Guest Star Batman. Although that would be a little disappointing to Batfans.

I could see them doing it for real after introducing a wide Bat-family so that Dick could carry on as the man after Bruce dies. Maybe after a Justice League movie featuring Darkseid with a Batman sequel that deals with the aftermath (sort of like how Iron Man 3 made repeated reference to the events of The Avengers).

I don't think they'll do like The Dark Knight Returns. Nolan already adapted much of it, including that part, into The Dark Knight Rises.
I need to stop buying so many movies and not getting around to watching them.

It could work as a way to give Warner Bros. and DC some extra time to figure out what they're doing with a new Batman series proper.

Sounds like it might be inspired by the Dark Knight Returns since apparently Snyder quoted it at Comic Con. I'm a huge Bat fan and have been all my life but I wouldn't be bothered at all if he's little more than a glorified cameo in this since he's already had 5 good to really good films, Superman deserves to have another one.
