As well you should leave it at that. If people like something, who are you to judge them because of that?

I've not really been buying steelbooks that long really. It was the 'Jaws' SB that kicked it off for me.

I have a fair few steelbooks, but like other members have said, it is easier to get carried away with the bug, so I have to restrain myself.
One thing that I am a bit cynical about now, is with such a high volume of steelbooks being produced, will the studios put such a high effort into the artwork etc? They know that there will be collectors out there who will snap them up, no matter what, so to maximise their profits they may release lacklustre steelbooks
I hope this does not happen, but an example in my opinion was that I thought the UK release of "Drive" was very average. We shall see.

It seems most steelbooks designs are based on existing art and concept art already created for the films, so I dont see the problem with this.

There are alot of films I will never buy steels of (or at all for that sake), but mere steel releases increases the chances that more films I love will get the treatment

If you completely trust studios to not to minimise production costs and attempt rip off consumers, then I admire your optimism.
The fact is that there are so many steelbooks being produced now, IMO this has resulted in them no longer being the niche product that they once were.
And linked to this higher volume, there is always a risk it could lead to a reduction in quality.
As I said before, I hope my fears are unfounded.

A whole lot of financial pain! I'm triple dipping on some of my favourites in order to have a steelbook case for them in my collection.
