Default Playstation behind xbox

Why is playstation always behind xbox when it comes to things like being able to watch stuff on the systems like no hbo app of playstation and it toke forever for sony to release a ppv app on the ps3 and I can done see we won't get that for the ps4 until the ps5 is announced just like they did with ps3

Sony should know in order to make money they need to spend money their PPV app is not even that good I watched one PPV on it and I just went back watching them on my 360. I know Sony puts gaming first but that does not mean they shouldnt at least give us or the people who want it a WWE app or a UFC app or even an HBO one

Who cares about apps? My PS4 is for games. Everything on the Xbox One is just useless crap. It's a waste of space on the hard drive. If you want to watch HBO, turn on the TV.

I have a 360, but agree on the app's. I have things installed as back ups, but much prefer my BD player to run my streaming apps. It is kind of like a phone. I want one where it actually does what it was intended for. Of course with my phone I'd love to have a clear call and nice camera too.
Do you really have something to say or are you just in love with the sound of your keyboard?

If this is indeed the direction Sony is headed for, they will ultimately lose.

Haha. Agree. Though I wouldn't mind more apps on my ps4. With the HBO app don't you need subscribed to hbo on cable or directv?

That's what I would assume. So, if you already have HBO trough a TV provider, why would you need it on your game console? Every TV provider offers OnDemand now, so it's not like you're restricted to their schedule (If that's your reasoning for using the app instead of your set top box).

Riiiighht....

Seem to be doing fine from where I'm sitting.

Replacing 3 devices that each excel in their specific duties with 1 device that does 3 things poorly is not what I'd call progress. They make this wonderful device called a Harmony remote. Works well at eliminating the aggravation of having to turn off and on devices and/or change inputs.

As we know..the PS4 is in it's infancy. Still plenty of time.
Hopefully it will be updated to compete with the PS3 in Image and Sound Quality.
I also think that Sony will add storage device support at later date.
'Cus there's no point in putting USB 3 on a machine just to charge pads in standby.

Because HBO Go has almost every series that has EVER been on HBO. Last year I watched through all of Oz and almost all of the Sopranos (need to get back to that). They need to add Arli$$ though

This!

Xbox has a million apps but the xbox division hemorrhages money for MS and has quiet a few of the higher ups wanting to kill or sell the brand completely.

Sony suffers quiet a bit in TV so they certainly don't need to make any more bad video game decisions. Spending tons of money to get these apps isn't a priority when they're available on the other million machines you already own.

I don't understand why some here think a console can't excel at BOTH being a great games machine and have a rich selection of multimedia options. Some of you say "BAH! PS4 is a games machine, it don't need apps." Well I have news for you, the PS4 is not JUST a games machine. It already has Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, Crackle, Music Unlimited, Video Unlimited, etc. Whether you want to admit it or not, the PS4 IS a multimedia machine. So stop pretending that Sony's crappy multimedia app selection is justifiable because you think it's "just a games machine."
