Who do you think is the wealthiest villian in the James Bond movies. I vote for Hugo Drax from Moonraker. Has a huge house, built several space shuttles, a space station, and suppose to own the Eiffel Tower.
What are your thoughts? |

My instinct said Goldfinger. But, Hugo Drax definitely has some capital to burn... or he just has some serious clout and connections.
Hmmm... I'm still going to say Goldfinger in the end since he had lots of wealth in his possession in the form of the purest universal currency. Drax may have plenty of assets, but that could all be balanced out with mortgages and debt.

This thread is awesome!
I'm voting for my boy Sanchez!! He owned Banco De Isthmus and wore pink shirts when he killed people with a smile on his face Plus, he had to afford Lupe's shoe collection and main land shopping expeditions. |

The Quantum organization from Quantum of Solace had enough money to orchestrate global politics, water shortages, and dictatorship overthrows from behind the scenes. That's some serious wealth! Mr. White was a scary dude in the shadows.
Second choice: Goldfinger. Goldfinger allowed his henchman, Oddjob, to crush a golf ball with one hand. Golf balls are expensive! |

I think it would be a toss up between Drax and Goldfinger.

One of my least favorite movies in the series, but, what, no love for Scaramanga in 'Man With The Golden Gun'? Hell, the song even says "he charges a million a shot." and he's been in business for awhile.
But, yeah, probably Hugo Drax. Maybe a mulligan for Blofeld since he can afford to build all those underground volcano lairs.
Slipcovers I am willing to sell/trade: Brave, Ninja Assassin, Pulp Fiction, Super 8
Slipcovers I am looking for/will trade for: Braveheart, The Mummy, The Mummy Returns, Robin Hood (2010), Romeo + Juliet, Sucker Punch |

I suppose its a question of who owns what in terms of assets, corporate wealth and personal liquidity. Drax is a billionaire but how much of that is Drax's personal money and how much is Drax Corporation and is he fiddling the company to pay for his megalomaniac plans? Goldfinger seems to have the edge in assets, gold wasn't cheap then and at today's prices he could probably retire without any naughtiness. You could probably smuggle a fair bit by replacing the bodywork of a Rolls every month and he did have a highly economical way of dealing with those who might have made a claim on his finances - the Mafiosi. Scaramanga can't have been on his uppers at a million dollars a kill, islands and midget henchmen couldn't have been cheap even at 1970s prices. So I'd say Drax for corporate wealth, Goldfinger for assets and Scaramanga for cash

![]() Although it's quite hush hush, Mr. Wint and Mr. Kidd own many all-male nudist beach resorts around the world. I've been to a few of these fabulous resorts and they look absolutely more expensive than any silly space station! |

Don't forget Stromberg from The Spy Who Loved Me - I think he was the corporation, no investors. Submersible ocean station, supertankers, and subsea cities being built. Dude was so wealthy he didn't care about anything and wanted to blow up the world to force mankind into his underwater "paradise". But my other choice would be Drax.
Blofeld was head of an organization, and SPECTRE was by far the wealthiest criminal group. If that is taken into account, he is the winner hands down. What is interesting about the Bond movies is that they show his declining fortunes throughout the series as his organization's plots are foiled. Last edited by oildude; 01-03-2013 at 08:11 PM. |
