Who are yu to say what 3D is supposed to be about. I like the depth but I really like the stufff that is hapening outside the screen in my living room. And in case you didn't realize it, many people feel the same way. You have the absolute right to your opinion but you state it as if it were fact when, in fact, it is just your opinion, for what that is worth. If people like yourself controled things, there might be only one flavor of ice cream too

my 32 inch 3D tv looks just fine.

I wanted a bigger one/

Oh, well.

But the 3D on it looks fine.

I can see the depth and pop-outs.

Unless it happens to be one of those horrible conversions like Clash of the Titans or The Last Airbender.

For a 32" TV thats pretty much right where you want to be sitting from it. If you are comfortable with sitting at 1.75m or 1.5m away that would be good too, especially for 3D, but I wouldn't get any closer than that. As far as 3D pop-out effects go the larger the screen size the further the effects will pop-out. You can check in your TV settings to see if there is an adjustable depth control in the 3D menu. I have a Samsung too but if I'm watching a 3D Blu-Ray it won't let me adjust the depth at all I can only adjust the depth with 2D content I'm converting to 3D.
The recommend viewing distance is between 1.2 to 1.5 your screen width for the best 3D effect. I found that on my 55 inch TV, the 3D looks best sitting about 6.5 feet from the TV. For a 32 inch that would be about 4 feet. When watching 2.35:1 movies on my Panasonic PT-AE8000 front projector, the image is 138 inches wide and I'm sitting 15 feet from the screen or 1.3 the screen width and it looks fantastic!

I love depth but its always really cool to have a nice popup shot like the doritos one in yogi!

I agree and IMO, the depth allows the viewer to be immersed into the movie and pop out effects once in a while adds to the 3d experience. If there is too much pop out, then it gets fatiguing and IMO, Avatar had the right balance. They had me into the movie from beginning to the end.
Love 3D technology and am addicted to it.

Default New here!

I created an account just to comment because I found it very interesting reading the battle that ensued over passive vs active and pop-out vs depth.

The original thread creator simply asked what movies have best pop-out. I clicked because I wanted to know as well.

What I got were some great recommendations but I had to sift through the childlike arguments that engulfed the actual intent of the thread.

If the original poster had asked where is the best pepperoni and sausage pizza would you tell him pizza isn't about pepperoni and sausage and it's really about the cheese and that his taste buds actually don't taste the food correctly?

Exactly. Good day, gentlemen (and possibly women)

P.S. I plan on making a list of the recommendations throughout the thread and I'll post it as soon as I have time to do so. Thanks to everyone who submitted!

I want a list of names, so we know who to blame, once head count is done we will deal with the infidels in an all out Halo battle skull challenge. Refusal to take place will result in automatic dismissal where you are forced to watch re-runs of everybody loves Raymond 8 hours a day.

Children be warned
