I told my fiancee the website that was recommended but forgot to tell her what program to download. She read through quite a few of the program descriptions and she felt that 'Junkware removal tool' best described our problem, so she downloaded that and run it, which removed it. However I realised afterwards that I had forgotten to tell her what program to use, so I then downloaded Malwarebytes and run that too. It come up with one other thing that 'Junkware" didn't, and it removed it.

I've pretty much used MSE since you guys recommended around the time I started this thread. I haven't installed MW, but might for extra security. As reliable as some may say the paid securities are, I've not had a problem(Knock on wood) with what has been recommended. It has caught and disposed of pesky things every time. Thanks gang.
Do you really have something to say or are you just in love with the sound of your keyboard?

Even the best of sites get hacked or they have objects linked to other sites with poor security.

I've been running MSE on all of my computers here at the house for the past few years. Like how the virus definition updates are part of Windows updates. Will never go back to using Norton, McAfee or whatever the case may be. Find MSE utilizes far less resources than other anti-virus software programs I've used over the years while at the same time providing me adequate protection without being a constant PITA in the process.

As I said, the new Norton uses far less resources. I've compared it to MSE and MSE is heavier...not to mention it takes FOREVER to scan all my files, and there's no way to pause the scan!

McAfee's probably the worst out of the lot, IMHO.

I've never been a huge advocate of antivirus at all (see my previous post in this thread for confirmation of that), but I'm having no issues with my 13 cent copy of Bitdefender Internet Security 2013. I honestly forgot I'd even been running it for the past couple weeks until I saw this thread again.
