I did love No Country for Old Men.
Only one I haven't seen is Raising Arizona, but is say yeah. You can't go wrong with the other three. All three are pretty dark thrillers, with signature Coen humor sprinkled in.

Four of the Coens' best movies for less than $20? That's a no-brainer.

Wish I would have just bought this instead of just Fargo by itself, but had no idea it was going to go down.

Nobody would have known. It's possible that the other 3 will go down to roughly $5 each at some point too. Obviously the set would be easier, but Fargo at $4.49 would have been hard for any fan to pass up.

How can they call this set "Coen Bros Collection" when most of their films available on Blu-ray aren't even included? True Grit, O Brother, No Country, Barton Fink, Burn After Reading, Big Lebowski, Intolerable Cruelty, Miller's Crossing. A collection should be comprehensive.

1. You forgot A Serious Man, The Ladykillers (when it gets a BD), and Crimewave.

2. That's not possible because all those films are owned by different studios.

Miller's Crossing is included. They should call this "MGM's Coen Brother Collection".

It's A Coen Bros. Collection, not THE Coen Bros Collection.

The only omission I am confused about is Barton Fink as that was released by Fox on VHS and DVD in North America. Maybe they lost the rights? Universal released it on blu in the UK.

There are simply too many studios involved (Fox/MGM, Disney, Universal, Paramount, Warner) for there to be a comprehensive set of all of the Coens' films.

If you want to be technical, it's "From the minds of the Coen Brothers", so they aren't pretending to be anything close to definitive.

Certainly not by definition. If they said Complete Collection, that'd be a different issue. Collection simply means a bunch of them. Can anyone having a shell collection claim to have every shell worth collecting?

It's a nice set. Really wish The Man Who Wasn't There was on Blu-ray. My all-time favorite Coen Brothers film.

Are there Criterion rumours for Raising Arizona? It's an important film and the lack of extras is pitiful.

No. There's no real evidence to suggest Criterion has anything in the works for any Coen film. Just speculation that they might be doing Barton Fink because it was the one Fox title not included in this set, Fox licenses to Criterion and Barton Fink is arguably the most Criterion-esque in their filmography.

And you're the first person I've seen suggest that they might do Raising Arizona. I don't really get the concept of putting a title on your Criterion wishlist and then going online hoping its true.

I think Man Who Wasn't There would fit well in Criterion Collection...

I do too and I forgot to mention that I emailed them about BF and TMWWT a couple months ago and got a canned "thank you for the suggestion" auto-reply.

Unfortunately I think Criterion is the best hope we have for getting those two out.

Hard to believe that Criterion has never released a Coen Bros. movie, considering they're amongst the most acclaimed filmmakers of the last three decades.
